DFSee 11.1 released (von http://news.warpevents.eu/)

DFSee version 11.1 has been released today

There is a new feature for the DFSDISK procedure to search on
the 1-MiB boundaries as used by many newer Windows machines,
in addition to the regular geometry-cylinder boundaries.

The PTEDIT dialog is updated for easier sorting and navigation,
and the screen output during clone, restore and wipe has been
minimized to avoid scary warnings about the (still unformatted)
target partitions.

And of course more small fixes and enhancements ...

DFSee is a very powerful disk-utility with disk partitioning,
filesystem and disk analysis, some file recovery and UNDELETE
and smart imaging or cloning of partitions or complete disks.

Java (OpenJDK) version 1.6.0-b24 GA2 (von http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Java is a very popular sophisticated programming environment. Applications written in the Java language are run inside a virtual machine (Java Virtual Machine, JVM) which provides a nearly identical behavior on all platforms that have a JVM implementation available. This "write once, run anywhere" approach means that developers can support a multitude of platforms while only having to maintain one code base. For users, availability of a current Java for OS/2 and eComStation means access to a huge number of existing applications.

For more information about Java, see:
http://class='extlink'http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_%28programming_language%29

Previously, Java had been made available for OS/2 and eComStation by IBM, Golden Code and Innotek. However, new versions with many changes and improvements have been released since then and current applications require a current JVM implementation. The new project will port a current JVM to OS/2 and eComStation.

PMView Pro v3.65 (von http://news.warpevents.eu/)

PMView Pro v3.65 is now available. PMView Pro is an image viewer and converter for OS/2 and Windows.

List of new features and bug fixes:

Windows: http://class='extlink'http://www.pmview.com/whatsnew.html />OS/2: http://class='extlink'http://www.pmview.com/os2new.html

IMPORTANT: To obtain the full (registered) version of the update, you will need to follow the download instructions included in the e-mail that was sent to you when you purchased PMView Pro. If you have lost this information, please contact http://sales@blueprintsoftwareworks.com.

Trial (demo) versions of PMView can be downloaded at http://class='extlink'http://www.pmview.com Registered users, please note that the trial versions CANNOT be registered. If you have purchased PMView Pro, please follow the download instructions in the e-mail sent by BMT Micro.

2/28/2012 -PMView Pro v3.65

The following features are new in PMView v3.65:

Saving, TGA: Previous versions of PMView always stored a full 256-entry color map when saving TGA files that are 256 or fewer colors, thus producing up to 768 bytes of unnecessary data in the TGA file. This has been changed and PMView will now only write as many color map entries as needed. In addition to this, when saving a grayscale image, PMView will now use TGA type 3 to avoid the need for a color map. For compatibility with legacy applications, a new TGA save option "Store full color map" has been added.

The following bugs and problems are fixed in PMView v3.65:

Saving, TIFF: Saving a TIFF using CCITT FAX3 or FAX4 compression and setting the Strip size to "Single strip" incorrectly produces a file with two strips.
Saving, TGA: When using the TGA RLE option, PMView encoded run-length packets across scan lines as is allowed by the TGA file format specification in Appendix C of the Truevision Technical Guide. However, the more recent TGA v2.0 specification states that this should never be done. This version of PMView has been changed to comply with the TGA v2.0 specification and the RLE implementation has been improved overall.
Saving, IFF: Saving a blank image (an image with just one color) causes PMView to hang.
Saving, IFF: PMView fails to add a padding byte to the BODY chunk when the size is not divisible by two. As a result, PMView will give a premature end-of-file error when reading back the file.
Saving: The Packbits encoder used in the IFF, MAC, PIC, and TIFF formats has been improved.

"The goal of the Subversion project is to build a version control system that is a compelling replacement for CVS in the open source community. The software is released under an Apache/BSD-style open source license."

GBM 1.75 (Generalised Bitmap Module) released (von http://news.warpevents.eu/)

I’m pleased to announce the availability of several updated GBM modules.

The main improvements are:

- Enhanced TGA codec (details see readme)

- ZLIB updated to version 1.2.6

- PNG codec: Update to Libpng 1.5.9 (with APNG extension patch)

- JPEG codec: Update to IJG 8d

- JPEG2000 codec: Update to OpenJPEG 1.5

- RAW codec: Update to libraw 0.14.5 (based on dcraw 9.12)

GBM.DLL 1.75 and GBM command line tools

---------------------------------------

The Generalised Bitmap Module (GBM) is a library capable of loading and saving bitmap files in a variety of popular and less popular bitmap file formats. Programs may be written to use this code, and thus be able to access a variety of file formats without actually knowing what format the pictures are in, or any details about file format itself. It comes with a useful set of command line bitmap manipulation tools. Get package gbmos2_175_bin.zip or the WarpIN installation package (see below).

Enhanced GBMV/GBMV2 Version 1.59

--------------------------------

GBMV2 is a fast and simple bitmap viewer and editor for the OS/2 and eCS Presentation Manager. GBMV is a simple bitmap viewer. Get package gbmos2pm159_bin.zip or the WarpIN installation package from Hobbes (see below).

GBM plugin 1.46 for Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox/SeaMonkey

------------------------------------------------------

This is a plugin for the Webbrowsers Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox and SeaMonkey available for OS/2 and eComStation that extends them for the support of reading all bitmap formats supported by GBM.DLL. Get the package gbmos2plugins_lu142_moz146_bin.zip or the WarpIN installation package (see below). There is also a Mozilla XPI installer package available separately (also included in WarpIN package) which also allows automatic updating of the plugin.

Notes for eComStation 1.x/2.x users

-----------------------------------

Please read the installation instructions. eCS 1.x/2.x ships with an old GBM.DLL (1.12) which prevents loading of the new GBM.DLL (1.75). Please follow the instructions to use the new GBM.DLL for all programs as well as for eCS WPS features like bitmap previews.
