I currently discuss with Masami Kitamura how to implement Tame/2 for scanning (1.0 GA will hopefully be available in japanese again), make it's usage more like 'common' standards ... And finally Maeda Haruyuki did a marvellous job with the Sane Snapscan backend (already works for some testers) so Tame/2 1.0 GA will support more USB scanners ( a lot's more I hope, as we we currently try to get the plustek backend working too).
You see 'language' is never the problem as long as people *want* to understand each other despite the misunderstandings which might happen during japanese-english-german translations (oh they happen using german only quite often too ;-).
