Gphoto2/2 alpha (from Bart van Leeuwen)
I'm pleased to announce that I have compiled a alpha version of gphoto2, there is only a command line interface available, but that works fine to start with, currently I'm looking for testers. If your camera is mentioned in this list you should give it a try. At first start it complains about CAMLIBS envireonment variable, this should point to the subdirectory created while unpacking the archive.

Warpzilla M17p3 preview binaries (from Joerg Sievers)
Henry Sobotka has made new binaries for the OS/2-Mozilla (called "Warpzilla") on Preview Build 17. Mozilla is the new platform-independent browser-generation which is also used by Netscape in version 6. What's new in this binaries:
  • This release includes two fixes from IBMers that haven't yet been checked in: Joseph Samake's rewrite of the locale code and Jeff Kobal's faster tiling (which provides a gain in speed/efficiency well worth the cost of an ephemeral minor transparency bug).
  • The vicious webshell-spawning that triggered when trying to load a local text or nonexistent file with the last preview binaries is now gone.
  • You can migrate your Communicator/2 profiles to Warpzilla. When you launch Profile Migration, it adds your 4.x profiles to the list of those available. The actual migration only occurs when you select one of the Comm/2 profiles. It doesn't alter the Comm/2 versions, just converts them to Warpzilla format and stores the results in the Users50 directory.
  • Among other little improvements you may notice:
    • The Software Installer works
    • Icons have been added to Composer's tag view
    • FTP directory listings show up and downloads work, although the tree interface takes a bit of getting used to
    • Dates and times appear in mailnews listings
    • Context menu mouse-selection is back.

Astrolog 0.98b (from Klaus Staedtler)
Mangus Olsson has updated astrolog to ver. 0.98b. New (compared to 0.98) are:
Fix v0.98b
  • ChartAspect: Upgraded 16-bit legacy limit (30000) to INT_MAX, so that also the most important aspects are included in the aspect list...
  • GetAspInf: Orb power weighed and smoothed by a sine function (less than half orb means more power, more than half orb means less power, power changes very slowly at the extremes). Jyotish houses: Sign influence revised so that Asc and MC go as sidereal.
Fix v0.98a
  • Jyotish houses: Sign influence calculations now treat Ascendant and MC signs same as those for the 1st and 10th house respectively (i.e., same as if the sidereal zodiac was used). Fixed: The internal show seconds setting could be wrong in some cases.

DFSee 3.32 (from Klaus Staedtler)
Jan van Wijk has relased DFSee 3.32. New in 3.32:
  • Virtual disks allow experimenting with partitions without actualy writing anything to the real physical disk
  • W2KBM will protect an IBM-bootmanager against aggressive Windows-2000 CHKDSK operations that could damage the BMGR data sectors
Display File Systems (DFSee) is a generic partition and filesystem browser/analyser. DFSee supports partition-tables (FDISK), (V)FAT, FAT-32, HPFS-structures, some NTFS stuff and it might support different file-systems like JFS and EXT2 in the future. NewView V1.12.14 (from Peter Lueersen)
Aaron Lawrence has publkished the version V1.12.14 of the Help viewer. NewView is a replacement for the original VIEW.EXE. Major enhancements are:
  • New user interface (split window with contents always available)
  • Select and copy direct from window. Including keyboard selection
  • Remembers size & position
  • Most recently used files list
  • Smooth scrolling display
  • Always see where in contents current doc is
  • Loads file into memory instead of leaving it open
  • Can go forward as well as back in history
  • Various options (colours, fonts etc)
  • Annotate help files - notes are displayed within topic
  • Fully resizeable even with multi-windows
  • More search options.
What things DOES it display?
  • Contents
  • Index
  • Text
  • Links
  • Bitmaps
  • Styles & alignments
  • Examples (fixed-width, no right margin)
  • Multiple windows*
* Window Handling: Since it is not designed in the MDI (Multi-document interface) model, NewView has to do some odd things to handle multiple windows as they are specified for View. The results seems to be generally acceptable, but this depends on sub-windows not being listed in the contents tree. This is the case for the OS/2 Toolkit docs, the main examples of multiwindow usage. NewView is freeware, and probably GPL'd too.

PM123 1.1 beta 1 (from Samuel Audet)
After 2 years, PM123 finally gets an update. PM123 is mainly an audio MPEG player for OS/2, but can now be extended with the new plug-in API. What's new:
  • Fixed file with spaces in pipe commands.
  • execmode -sp executed on pm123.exe so it now runs in WarpServer 4 SMP
  • Patched notebook loading problem with Default display settings.
  • Adjusted equalizer dialog frequencies to correspond with new mpg123 values.
  • Fixed auto-play on load when another stream is playing.
  • Implemented new decoder, filter and output plugins. For this beta, very little plug-ins are fully functional.
  • Playback of playlist does not close the output plug-in between playback of the entries anymore.
  • "Use this playlist" and next/previous now loads the ID3 Tag.
  • "Default display" now works everywhere.
  • Playlist now continues playing after selecting a song from the playlist.
  • Drag and drop from the playlist to main window now works properly.
  • Random button does random playback again, not sorting. Random is also much faster than it was in beta 2. Use "Random" in the Sort submenu if you want to do playlist shuffling.
  • Repeat and Random playback state are now reloaded after launch.
  • Fixed random crash when adding with recurse, I hope...
  • Repeat now works in all conditions.
  • Adding to a playlist before the current loaded song now updates its index.
  • Deleting from a playlist before the current loaded song now also updates its index.
  • Directories can now be added from the "Add to list" file dialog. This is basically a hack in the file dialog. Unless you manually type the path, the directory will have to be selected in the directory listbox AND it must be the current directory listed in the file listbox AND the filename entry field must be empty, or "*" or the default "*.*".
  • HUGE playlist (~900 songs and more) are now able to load.
  • pm123 doesn't crash when loading playlist from the command line for an already opened instance. This includes .m3u since they are now loaded as playlists.
  • Fixed problem when loading playlist and a song from the unloaded playlist was already playing.
  • Deleting entries from a playlist doesn't auto-use use it anymore.
  • Sorting by size and time is now much faster.
  • Loading entries from the playlist now actually loads the right entry, not just the one with the same exact filename. but this basically makes it faster...
  • Added support for WinAmp style .pls playlist files including SHOUTcast. Titles for SHOUTcast servers are loaded from the .pls so you see all the neat stuff like the load of the servers when you load the playlist.
  • Fixed problem loading HTTP URLs with no path like on SHOUTcast.
  • Included procedure in netscape.html to properly configure pm123 as a Netscape Navigator helper application.
  • Fixed memory leak when removing entries from the playlist.
  • Streaming buffer now works properly and continues playing buffered stream even if read operations are stalled.
  • Broken HTTP connections are now properly canceled and closed on stop.
  • Added workaround for timing problem in DART for setting volume right after the device is opened.
  • HTTP URL with no filename like SHOUTcast now show the complete host instead of interpreting it as a filename. Title streaming is on its way...
mpg123.dll 1.09 in pm123 1.1 beta 1
  • Fixed streaming audio by adding two in a row header checking.
  • Implements new pm123 decoder plug-in interface.
