Migrating from Warp 4 to MCP 2 (from Roderick Klein) |
During some testing I have been doing for eComStation I have been wondering why you need to install MCP 1 first and THEN MCP 2 if you want to migrate your Warp 4 installation. Where is the difference between MCP 1 and MCP 2 installer. As far as I could tell NONE! I did the test. I installed a Warp 4 (fresh installation) and started with MCP 2 refresh. It did not work.
So what is it checking on that its stopping during installation ? Just copy from an MCP 1 system the \\os2\\install\\syslevel.os2 file. Copy this in your Warp 4 system in \\os2\\install and overwrite the Warp 4 version. I was able to painlessly migration from. Please note, you use this advise on your own risk. Always make a backup before doing these kind of experiments. Let me know how it works for you. Roderick Klein -> comments: 1 [ Version for printing ] [ Send via eMail ] |

OS/2 in the 2002 (from Martin Iturbide) |
I decided to sit for a while and write some thoughts about what happened with OS/2 on this 2002. So I tried to describe the how the 2002 year was for OS/2, talk a little bit about the OS/2 software releases and the important news of this year that has ended. -> URL: http://www.os2world.com/cgi-bin/news/viewnews.cgi?category=33&id=1041892350 -> comments: 0 [ Version for printing ] [ Send via eMail ] |

OS2.org offline (from ) |
We are back, and now hopefully with less problems than before.
In the last weeks we had several issues with JFS and DB2 we cannot explain yet, which resulted in a not working website. So the database has been moved to a non JFS partition and we hope the keeps the problem away. During the backup and recovery work we lost all of our news and forum data since the last relaunch in November. We are really sorry about that. So the data will be backed up on a daily bases on tapes. We\'ll have another downtime on friday for some hours to build in our hardware raid system.
