DW2008 -- calculate the advantages (from http://www.os2news.com) |
Developers Workshop 2008 is coming -- http://wiki.netlabs.org/index.php/Developers_Workshop_2008 You are right, the cost of the trip to Dusseldorf may be very high for you. 300 EURO.. 500 EURO.. 1000 EURO.. or more. What is the reason to spend so much money? 1. The trip is successful if you communicate with people, make questions and collect ideas. Are you ready to make the efforts? 2. Are you going make a presentation? The workshop is a good chance to * share your libraries with other developers; * learn new eComStation technologies and share the knowledge with other developers; * present own concept of OS development; * inform developers which software and drivers should be created; 3. Moreover, the visit of the conference gives you: Intercourse * You are meeting with other users and developers from different countries, different cultures; * If you are a developer, then you are meeting with your clients. Ask them what do they need; * Meet the users from your city and region. The conference may help you create Local User Group; * Get fresh news and secret information while chatting. Income * The trip to Germany is good for your experience, you can see how german people are working, why they are so productive. * You are collecting information what is the trend of OS/2 development. This helps you safe the efforts and don't spend the time to fake goals. * If you are a designer then watch the design of german houses, clothes, banners, railroad and cars. * Improve your english (/deutch/dutch), no need to buy tutorials of english language * You are mobilizing while preparing for the conference. You are generating more ideas, more code while preparing for D-Day. * Present your program to sell it Vacations * If you don't have a report then the trip seems like short summer vacations * Dusseldorf is a good place for shopping Full list of conferences for eComStation and OS/2 users -- http://ecomstation.ru/conferences.php -> comments: 0 [ Version for printing ] [ Send via eMail ] |

Apache HTTP Server 2.2.8 Released (from http://www.os2news.com) |
From: Paul Smedley < paulDESPAM@DESPAMsmedley.id.au > Hi All, In line with the below announcement, a port of Apache2 v2.2.8 is now available from my site at http://os2ports.smedley.info Enjoy! Cheers, Paul. Original Message Subject: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Apache HTTP Server 2.2.8 (2.0.63, 1.3.41) Released Date: Sat, 19 Jan 2008 12:02:26 -0500 From: Jim Jagielski < jimDESPAM@DESPAMapache.org > Apache HTTP Server 2.2.8 Released The Apache Software Foundation and the Apache HTTP Server Project are pleased to announce the release of version 2.2.8 of the Apache HTTP Server ('Apache'). This version of Apache is principally a bug and security fix release. The following potential security flaws are addressed: * CVE-2007-6421 (cve.mitre.org) mod_proxy_balancer: Correctly escape the worker route and the worker redirect string in the HTML output of the balancer manager. Reported by SecurityReason. A flaw was found in the mod_proxy_balancer module. On sites where mod_proxy_balancer is enabled, a cross-site scripting attack against an authorized user is possible. * CVE-2007-6422 (cve.mitre.org) Prevent crash in balancer manager if invalid balancer name is passed as parameter. Reported by SecurityReason. A flaw was found in the mod_proxy_balancer module. On sites where mod_proxy_balancer is enabled, an authorized user could send a carefully crafted request that would cause the Apache child process handling that request to crash. This could lead to a denial of service if using a threaded Multi-Processing Module. * CVE-2007-6388 (cve.mitre.org) mod_status: Ensure refresh parameter is numeric to prevent a possible XSS attack caused by redirecting to other URLs. Reported by SecurityReason. A flaw was found in the mod_status module. On sites where mod_status is enabled and the status pages were publicly accessible, a cross-site scripting attack is possible. Note that the server-status page is not enabled by default and it is best practice to not make this publicly available. * CVE-2007-5000 (cve.mitre.org) mod_imagemap: Fix a cross-site scripting issue. Reported by JPCERT. A flaw was found in the mod_imap module. On sites where mod_imap is enabled and an imagemap file is publicly available, a cross-site scripting attack is possible. We consider this release to be the best version of Apache available, and encourage users of all prior versions to upgrade. Apache 2.2 offers numerous enhancements, improvements, and performance boosts over the 2.0 codebase. For an overview of new features introduced since 2.0 please see: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/new_features_2_2.html Please see the CHANGES_2.2 file, linked from the download page, for a full list of changes. A condensed list, CHANGES_2.2.8 provides the complete list of changes since 2.2.6 (2.2.7 was not released). A summary of security vulnerabilities which were addressed in the previous 2.2.6 and earlier releases is available: http://httpd.apache.org/security/vulnerabilities_22.html This release builds on and extends the Apache 2.0 API. Modules written for Apache 2.0 will need to be recompiled in order to run with Apache 2.2, and require minimal or no source code changes. -> URL: http://www.os2voice.org -> comments: 0 [ Version for printing ] [ Send via eMail ] |

From: Ian Manners < ianDESPAM@DESPAMos2site.com > Whois v4.7.24 is a command line WHOIS client utility for checking domains and IP address's in various whois databases on the internet. Whois compiles with only minimal changes in the makefile (documented by the original author Marco d'Itri). config.diff provided by Steven Levine for turning on NLS support and long option support. Also thank you to everyone that pointed out the above omissions, dont think I would have ever noticed myself :o) Whois v4.7.24 can be found at :- http://www.os2site.com/sw/internet/util/ hobbes in '/incoming', then '/pub/os2/apps/internet/misc', or searching hobbes on whois http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=whois Cheers Ian Manners http://www.os2site.com/ -> URL: http://www.os2voice.org -> comments: 0 [ Version for printing ] [ Send via eMail ] |

Mr. Message (AIM/ICQ client) update 1/17/2008 (from http://www.os2news.com) |
From: Marty Amodeo < martyamodeoDESPAM@DESPAMcomcast.net > Mr. Message for OS/2 is an instant messenger client which is capable of communicating over AOL's Instant Messenger network using the OSCAR protocol (used in the Win32 AIM clients, jBuddy, Pidgin, Kopete, ICQ, and a variety of other clients). It has been updated with the following new features: * Added options for each event to control if they cause the Mr. Message IM window to jump to the top and/or steal the window focus. * Added an event 'ticker' window (like a stock ticker) optionally notifying you when users sign on/off, you receive a message, or any other event. * Ticker font, colors, speed, opacity, and location are fully customizable through drag and drop operations or settings dialog * Added standard File/Open dialogs for selecting which sounds and REXX scripts to use for Mr. Message events. (Click the folder icon on the settings page.) * Added four new event types which can be used to play sounds, launch scripts, display in the ticker window, and other actions. * Buddy sets Away status * Buddy is back from Away status * Profile message was retrieved (for REXX scripts only) * Away message was retrieved (for REXX scripts only) * Added a new REXX command to display custom messages in the new ticker window. See ReadMe.REXX for more details. * Added new REXX commands to modify profile and away messages. You can use these in conjunction with the new events related to profile and away message retrieval to perform national language character conversions so they appear correctly in the Mr. Message GUI. See ReadMe.REXX for more details. * Added a profile/away message filter sample REXX scripts to perform substitutions for AIM macros (%n = username, %d = date, %t = time). Assign these to the appropriate events to activate them. It also has the following fixes and changes: * Event names in the settings window are now alphabetized. * Buddy list filtering is now only done after all buddies have been added at startup to save some time. * Mr. Message will now wait 30 seconds after a session starts before registering notifications that updates have happened in online/offline messages. * Changed so that profile messages are still retrieved and displayed when a user is away. Both will display in the pop-up window. * Fixed a race condition during login which could cause login failures by listening to the wrong TCP/IP socket if the receiver thread takes too long to start up. * Fixed display of profiles or away messages that are too long and don't have any spaces in them to break lines. Window size will be hacked down to 40 characters now instead of extending off into 'infinity'. * Fixed window focus when buddy list first appears so that mouse-over popups will appear without clicking on the buddy list. * Fixed all cases where a user appears to be online when they are offline. * Fixed a small memory leak of the settings information for each session when the settings are unchanged from the global settings. * Cleaned up some duplicated code for better maintenance. * Informational popup windows and tool tip colors have been changed to make them easier to read. To download, please visit the official Mr. Message web page: http://mamodeo.dyndns.org/MrMessage New features will continue to be added with each release. :-) -> URL: http://www.os2voice.org -> comments: 0 [ Version for printing ] [ Send via eMail ] |
