LBMix 0.06 (a universal mixer for IOCTL90 and pipe APIs) (from Lesha Bogdanow)

FtpServer 0.89 (from Peter Moylan)
Sorry, everyone, but yesterday's release of FtpServer 0.88 had a bug that broke the "get recursive" operation supported by clients like NcFtp. I've now fixed this, and the new version is at ftp://eepjm.newcastle.edu.au/software/ftpser089.zip, or can be fetched via my web pages. The network around here has been slow lately, and I suspect that there is a nameserver or router problem somewhere in my local area. If you can't download reliably from my site, it might be necessary to try several times. Unfortunately, any problems between 25 December and 2 January probably won't be fixed, because this university closes down completely in that week.

PmAs 1.12 (from Cornelis Bockemuehl)
It is now possible to generate and add a local horizon to star charts. Originally, this was only supposed to be kind of a "service release", but it turned out to be more work than foreseen: I hadn't thought about the fact that a horizon should remain horizontal even when rotating the viewing direction - as the name already suggests ;-) Until now the display was always automatically oriented so that the celestial north pole was "upwards"; now this can be set to be an arbitrary point, and for horizon displays this is set to be the zenith. On the homepage an example for this new function is shown. The rest of the examples is replaced by the ones shown at Warpstock Europe in Karlsruhe/Germany (13-15 Oct 2000). This also "blew up" the online docs a few 100kb: They too include now the same, illustrated examples.

PMView 2.14 (from Boris Kirkorowicz)
Here is a list of all changes from v2.10:

New features:
  • New menu option "File->Next/Previous->Wrap" that lets you select if PMView's File Sequencer should wrap at the last/first file or not.
  • New menu option "View->Show->Window Borders" that lets you hide the window borders of PMView's main window.

The following bugs and problems are fixed:
  • Screen capture: Problem with using the keyboard mnemonics {Alt-F}{T}{S} to activate File->Capture->Screen for hot-key capture [OS/2 only]
  • Pressing ALT twice in the main window causes the status bar to go blank [Windows only].
  • File Open/Save dialogs: It is not possible to rename or delete folders. The menu entries for these functions are grayed out. [Windows 2000 only].
  • The "Copy" and "Preserve Color Depth" menu items in the "Edit" menu use the same mnemonic character.
  • PMView does not ask for save confirmation if the File Save dialog is open.
  • Dragging files and dropping them back in the source folder gives an error message [Windows only].
  • The folder list in the File Open/Save dialog does not auto scroll during drag&drop [Windows only].
  • Convert to Black&White: Conversion of a Deep Color image results in an image that PMView internally still thinks is Deep Color. Saving this file results in a Deep Color image instead of a Black&White 1-bit image.
  • File Open dialog: File open dialog opens with no files.
  • General: Fixed a problem with entering the decimal separator in entry fields.
  • General: Some files cause PMView to crash.
  • About dialog: The About dialog does not display the version number of PMView.

Sysinfo/2 0.7.6 (from Joerg Skottke)
Alexey Smirnov has released version 0.7.6 of his Sysinfo/2 program.
Thanks to Mike Reichel SysInfo/2 now works with new Theseus 4 API. Attention: Theseus 4 API is incompatible with previous versions of Theseus. Starting with ver 0.7.6 SysInfo/2 will work only with Theseus 4 or higher.
Main changers are:
  • On the first page - former "Build level" now is named as "KERNEL Level";
  • On "Disks" page - Directory ListBox now shows information more firmly due to icon spacing decrease;
  • Now SysInfo/2 sends request directly SCREEN$ to determine Video memory size, but the results are still wrong;
  • Previously added "CPU/FPU Benchmark" window was rewroted - I add some benchmarks (Intel Pentium III 800) and so on...
  • Previously added "File IO BenchMark" window was rewroted in the same manner;
  • Also, File IO Bench algorithm was rewroted too. SysInfo/2 will not report negative values in File IO Benchmark results;
  • An error corrected in NetWare client detection algorithm - now your Desctop will not being frozen if SysInfo/2 can't find NET.CFG in the root of your boot drive.
In next versions of SysInfo/2 I will try to get NetWare client information not by NET.CFG parsing but from software calls;
Please try to visit SysInfo/2 project homepage for more details.

Program Commander/2 Version 2.20 for OS/2 (from Roman Stangl)
I'm pleased to announce the public availability of PC/2 V2.20, the latest and greatest version of this utility that started development about 8 years ago! Primarily, you can get the complete package - including the complete source code - (and some other useful stuff) via my home page by following the PC/2 links.
PC/2 is a WPS enhancement or replacement, that features a program launcher, Virtual Desktops, Hotkey support, Sliding focus, Advanced Marking, Dynamic Menu Selection, Environment Spaces, WIN95 key support, QuickSwitch and SessionBar window, Hardware Panning support, TitleBar Smarticons, Lockup and Password protection support, Scheduler, WPS extraction and a Spooler Control Window (which enables spooling even when running PC/2 as a WPS replacement).
Running PC/2 as the WPS replacement can save about 4 MB precious RAM, even on well equipped machines you can notice decreased swapper size and activity giving you a performance boost compared to running the WPS (due to the much smaller memory requirements compared with the WPS). For those of you who want to know the "tricks" used in PC/2, the full source (requires long filename support) is included, however it can be decrypted only on the 32-bit OS/2 platform to avoid using it on the Windows platforms. You are allowed to freely use, enhance or redistribute this package, if you don't strip anything, please see the online help for further details!

Panda Antivirus for OS/2 update (from Daniel Jones)
Panda Antivirus for OS/2 has been updated - the new engine is dated 11/24/00, and is available for registered users to download. Updated virus signature files are available from the Panda web site almost daily. This latest release seems to have fixed a problem with PAVOS2.DLL, that used to crash on my system on a fairly regular basis.
