News for WinCast drivers (from John Rodriguez)
This news arrived today:
Abbotsbury Software Ltd. has updated their driver for the Hauppauge WinCast/TV PCI card. The current version is 1.040E. This version corrects a problem in the Settings Notebook and properly sets up the brightness/saturation for GRADD users. You will need to download the entire package, not just the .SYS file, and delete your WinCast ini file(WCAST 1.INI ).
I"m happy to announce that the driver is almost ready for general release. The video quality is as good as that of our WinXX drivers. However, the driver still does not support all Hauppauge hardware. Current omissions include FM Radio, Stereo, Dolby and Teletext. Sound support is high on our list of priorities now that most video issues have been cleared up.
IBM UK is currently working on their WarpTV Television application. The original developer is making the changes needed to work with the new drivers and IBM has given us the rights to distribute it. WarpTV is a quality PM application and I would like to thank IBM UK, and the developer for updating it.
The driver set will be freely available to all non commercial users, however we are asking that satisfied customers register their software for a cost of $30. We are planning a CD that can be purchased for that price which will include the drivers, a registered version of WarpTV, possibly the latest IBM FixPack and GRADD drives plus whatever video related software we can find. This is being done primarily for new WinCast users who haven"t yet upgraded to the required FixPack and want to get started as quickly as possible.

WCast Driver 1.040D (from Andreas Linde)
Version 1.040D of the WCast Driver includes many improvements. These are:
  • (since 1.040B)
  • SVHS support added
  • Scaling improved to remove visual artefacts at top of display
  • Audio source fixed. There are now 4 variables that determine the audio source for each connector, s0_AMux, s1_AMux, s2_Amux, s3_Amux. To change the audio source for the tuner (Source 2) use:
    vxpvar wcast 1 s2_Amux 2
  • Ability to display 1 or 2 fields per frame
  • A number of bug fixes
  • (in 1.040D)
  • Big improvement in the colour management for GRADD mode
