From: Jim Read < jreadDESPAM@DESPAMgte.net >

On the 14th and 15th of November, it was announced that FileStar/2 version
3.00 and FlexEdit v1.00 were temporarily available for download at:

http://ftp.filestar.com/public/filestar/fsv30000.zip
http://ftp.filestar.com/public/flexedit/fev10000.zip

I am happy to report that both programs are now available for download at:

http://www.filestar.com

Links to view screen shots, BMT Micro to buy the licenses/keys and the Yahoo FS2 Users forum are also there.

I hope this clears up any confusion (from site statistics, there was some) as to where to download the programs.

From:Jan van Wijk < infoDESPAM@DESPAMdfsee.com >

[Moderator note: While in the process of finishing up this release Jan helped me get back my eCS partitions which were clobbered by installing Ubuntu. DFSee has saved me at least twice and helped me out several other times. ]

DFSee version 9.03 has been released today

It has a few minor bug fixes, but more importantly it is a pre-release of the 'Tx Advanced Scripting' engine as presented at warpstock 2007 in Toronto.

TxScript has been enhanced with many new features, making it a quite powerful scripting environment, some highlights:

- Scalar and array variables
- Expression evaluation for numbers and strings
- Flow control with if-then-elseif-else, while, for, until
- Access to much DFSee internal info using system variables

For an introduction in TX advanced scripting see:

http://www.dfsee.com/presentations.php

Almost all features described there are present in 9.03,
the few missing ones will be added in the upcoming 9.04.
Some small code samples are included as sample-*.dfs.

DFSee is a very powerful disk-utility with disk partitioning, filesystem and disk analysis, file recovery, UNDELETE for HPFS JFS, and NTFS, resizing and smart imaging or cloning.

Most important functional changes since 9.02:

- CLONE pri-to-pri, fix automatic FIXPBR 'to' part
- CMDLINE Allow input of < > when not at start cmdline
- CMDLINE Implemented DFSee host variables $_name
- CMDLINE Support $variable and {expression} evaluation
- JFS -v More info on damaged Inode with startup switch -p
- LIST -c Fixed incorrect leading '-l-' option
- MENU JFS fixboot, driveletter prompt for bootable JFS

Eclipse Enabler v1.1.0 (from http://www.os2news.com)
From: MarkDodel < feedbackDESPAM@DESPAMos2voice.org >

I was browsing around on Juergen Ulbts' web site and found the following which might interest some people. In addition to the Azureus4eCS aplication I already posted, there is also (among a few other things you might want to check out), the Eclipse Enabler package.

http://www.juergen-ulbts.de/content/projects/ports/index.en.html#eclipseenabler

'Eclipse Enabler (eComStation and OS/2 only)

With the Eclipse Enabler package using SWTSwing and the Eclipse on Swing (EOS) plugin, the last Eclipse SDK 3.2.2 (Windows) can be used on eComStation (eCS) and OS/2.

The Eclipse Enabler package includes an installation script to create desktop icons, start scripts for easy usage and Eclipse on Swing (EOS) which includes SWTSwing. There are also some additional Java Look'n'Feel classes included.

Requirements
* eComStation (eCS) or OS/2
* Eclipse v3.2.2 for Windows (the last for Java 1.4.x - released on 2007-02-12)
Download Eclipse SDK 3.2.2 (Windows) here!
* Innotek Java 1.4.2 Runtime (JRE; normally shipped with eCS) Golden Code Java 1.4.1 doesn't work!
Download Innotek Java 1.4.2_09 JRE here!
* Eclipse Enabler package (see download information below)'

'Help the SWTSwing development
To help the SWTSwing development you can increase the SWTSwing bounty at OS2World.com and report bugs. There has already been done some work to get Eclipse working on this platform and there are still some issues that need
to be solved (not just Eclipse related; I'm also working on an Azureus 2.5.0.4 release).

History/Changelog

* 1.1.0 - 2007-10-03
o Updated to latest Eclipse on Swing (EOS) v0.9.2 (2007-09-21)
o EOS is using updated SWTSwing version with improved startup speed and fixed some minor problems.
* 1.0.0 - 2007-08-26
o First public release using the EOS plug-in.
* previous versions
o See Eclipse_Enabler_History.txt that is included in the package.

Drawingboard theme 1.0.2 released (from http://www.os2news.com)
David Graser and Christian Hennecke have released the Drawingboard Theme 1.0.2 for eComStation. This theme was inspired by the MacOS Drawingboard theme by Apple Japan and uses intersecting, fading lines to create the look of engineering pencil sketches.

The theme takes a new approach and bundles support for the Window Theme Manager, Icon Theme Manager, eStyler, the Scheme Palette, and Animated Mouse Pointers.

Updates:

- Fixed a really stupid bug in the WarpIN script REXX macro code. Displaying the screenshot works again. Thanks to Alex Taylor and Lewis G Rosenthal for pointing this out.
- Corrected the iTheme description. No, we didn't design the original theme. ;-)

The theme comes as a WarpIN package that includes an option to display a screenshot prior to any installation activities to help you decide whether you want to give it a try or not.

You can obtain the WarpIN package from Hobbes:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?sh=1&button=Search&key=drawingboard-1-0-2

If you would like to support the authors' projects, please see the included README file.

If you have installed WPS-Wizard (see below) please select the main WPS-Wizard installation directory, otherwise scripts cannot be placed in the proper place.

WPS-Wizard official homepage: http://www.os2world.com/cdwriting/

From: Mark Dodel < feedbackDESPAM@DESPAMos2voice.org >

http://www.rsj.de/stage/en/cdwriter/default2.asp

'Using RSJ CD Writer you can create new CDs or copy data and audio CDs.

RSJ CD View copies all kind of CDs in just a few steps.

If you want to create a 1:1 copy of a CD, RSJ CD Copy Wizard offers the easiest solution.

RSJ CD Writer integrates seamlessly into your operating system:

* Copy files to CDs just by drag and drop - using your favourite file manager (i.e. Windows Explorer, WPS, ...).

* Completely unattended, automated operation possible.
* RSJ CD Writer supports about any current CD recorder.
* and much more...'

Warpstock Europe Steering Group established (from http://www.os2news.com)
In North America, Warpstock Inc. tries to ensure that a yearly user conference takes place. Local teams can submit bids. The board of directors finally takes the decision for a location and then provides basic support for the teams.

On this side of the Atlantic, there was nothing equivalent. As a result, the organisers of Warpstock Europe events each had to start from scratch for years. There was nothing to help them with organisational tasks, coordination, and building and maintaining the event web site. A first step to solve these issues was taken with the creation of the warpevents.eu / warpstock.eu platform.

On Saturday evening at Warpstock Europe, a discussion about further steps led to a consent that somebody was needed to take over responsibility between events and be a driving force in ensuring the next event. Everybody agreed that this could be done in a way that is a bit less formal than in North America. Finally, Gerrit Schoenmaker kick-started the constitution of this new group by volunteering himself and others joined in. The resulting Warpstock Europe Steering Group consists of:

* Gerrit Schoenmaker
* Peter Koller
* Christian Hennecke
* Keith Merrington
* Howard Winter (backup)

All members have some experience in event organisation and team coordination. Gerrit Schoenmaker, Keith Merrington, and Christian Hennecke have been directly involved in Warpstock Europe events in the past, and Peter Koller can offer his experience gained from dealing with considerably larger events.

Wanted: Warpstock Europe pictures (from http://www.os2news.com)
Many visitors of Warpstock Europe have taken pictures. The event team would like to make a selection available on the event web site so people who couldn't make it to Valkenswaard can get an impression of what the event was like.

If you have taken some pictures that you would share, please contact us at info@warpstock.eu.

Sudoku 1.01 Has Been Released (from http://www.os2news.com)
From: Sander Nyman < 2sanderDESPAM@DESPAMsbcglobal.net >

Robert Blair has released an update to his Sudoku game for OS/2. The game acts as a 'whiteboard' for those insanely popular Sodoku puzzles, and is considerably easier (and a lot more fun) to use than paper and pencil. A sample puzzle is included to help you get acquainted with the program.

This game is VERY well done, with features that include a timer, a help file, a Warpin installation, and even a REXX program (requires WGET) to download the daily Sudoku puzzles from the 'Sudoku Online' web site.

It is available on Hobbes, currently in the Incoming directory:

Lightning 0.7 for Thunderbird for OS/2 (from http://www.os2news.com)
From: Walter Meinl < wunoDESPAM@DESPAMlsvw.de >

Thanks to the sunbird/lightning developers you can download
lightning-0.7-builds against libC05 or libC063 from
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/lightning/releases/0.7/contrib/os2/
Simply download and then install with the addons manager in Thunderbird

The LibC063 build works with every Thunderbird, Peter's enhanced or the official. The libC05 build works only with the official builds. However, I found that the libC05 build looks sluggish with the official Thunderbird-2.0.0.6 version, while it works well with the 2.0.0.4 version.
So, if in doubt try libC063.

'Lightning brings the Sunbird calendar to the popular email client, Mozilla Thunderbird. Since it's an extension, Lightning is tightly integrated with Thunderbird, allowing it to easily perform email-related calendaring tasks.'

Have Fun
Walter

Firefox 2.0.0.9 (Official) Has Been Released (from http://www.os2news.com)
From: Sander Nyman < 2sanderDESPAM@DESPAMsbcglobal.net >

Michael Kaply has released Mozilla's Firefox 2.0.0.9 (Official) for OS/2.
This release contains the security update and fixes from version 2.0.0.8, as well as fixing the five regressions introduced in that release.

You can download it here:

http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.9/contrib/firefox-2.0.0.9.en-US.os2.zip

NOTE: This release requires the C runtime DLLs from Innotek. Version 0.5.1 includes an installer. Available here:

http://download.innotek.de/gccos2/runtime/libc-0.5.1.exe

NOTE: This release requires IPLUGINW.DLL to use the Java and Flash plugins. Available here:

http://e-vertise.com/warpzilla/ipluginw20050915.xpi
or here:
http://download.innotek.de/javaos2/mozilla/ipluginw20050915.xpi

NOTE: To have both Firefox, & Thunderbird in use at the same time (or ANY other Mozilla app) they *MUST* be at the SAME version level, or a mismatched DLL will still be in memory when you attempt to start a second Mozilla based program. The easiest way to get around this limitation, and
use DIFFERENT version levels of Firefox, Thunderbird, Kompozer, etc., is with Rich Walsh's Run! utility. It is tiny, and VERY easy to set up. To make life even easier, I HIGHLY recommend that you download & use the Internet Application Integration utility from Chuck McKinnis, which
actually contains the Run! utility, and sets it up for you, along with coordinating your web browser with your email client for 'mailto' links, etc. You can find it here:

http://7cities.net/~mckinnis/code/iai1050.exe

Or, if you'd rather do it yourself, here is the Run! utility:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/wps/run_060.zip

Firefox extensions (add-ons) that add new functionality are available here:

https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/?application=firefox

Firefox themes (skins) are available here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/themes/?application=firefox
