Universal Anti-Virus Rescue Kit for OS/2 (!) etc. (from Scott Tietjen)
Central Command Releases Universal Anti-Virus Rescue Kit Central Command has launched its Vexira Antivirus Rescue Disk System, which it claims is the industry's first universal anti-virus rescue technology for Windows, Linux, UNIX, DOS and OS/2 systems.
Multi-platform CD-ROMs and disks with anti-virus software for different
platforms are nothing new - the first 3.5 inch floppies supporting Windows PCs and Apple Macs first appearing in the late 1980s - but Central Command claims its product is the first to span all five operating system platforms. The system, the Ohio-based company says, will scan and remove more than 64,000 viruses, trojans and other malware from the relevant platforms using a single CD-ROM or a four-floppy disk set.
Specifically, Central Command says the package will work with he following file systems: Microsoft FAT 16, FAT 32, VFAT, NTFS, Linux ext2, ReiserFS and UMSDOS, IBM OS/2 HPFS, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris and UNIX UFS, CD-ROM ISO9660, Minix, FreeVxFS, Veritas VxFS, System V, Xenix, V7 and UDF.
Steve Sundermeier, the company's product manager, told Infosecurity News
that the rescue kit was available free of charge from the company's web
site and users are encouraged to visit the web site to download a trial of a fully-functional anti-virus application for their machines.

Free generic preprocessor (html/rexx/ipf/inf/ipfc) (from Timo Maier)
Generic preprocessor with specific support for HTML and rexx. Includes external files and supplies usual #define, #include, #if, #ifdef etc as well as many others such as #import to import data from databases. Can import SQL. Text to HTML. Its syntax is very simple yet the tool is very powerful. It is extendable using rexx, for example "#if GetEnv("FRED") == substr(Var, 2)". Macros support parameters and conditional logic. Create FTP like pages from dir trees (or WPS URL objects), validate generated HTML or rexx, automatically create thumbnails, photo albums. Spell check. HTML example inclusion from file with automatic tagging. As this tool is basically a "Super SSI" there is a "SSI" add-available which simplifies migration to PPWIZARD. "OL_DOC.DH" header for creation of IPF/HTML from common source. Looks to be handy as a XML, XSL and DTD preprocessor. Also runs in Windows, DOS, Unix and Mac OS X.

Java Movie Database V0.99 beta 2 (HOTFIX!) (from Juergen Ulbts)
The Java Movie Database (JMDB) is a Java program which stores the Data from the IMDB Text files (Internet Movie Database) in several MySQL Tables. After you have imported the data, you can search for actors, movies, producers and actors. About the movies and people some details are shown. For more details look at the JMDB-Homepage! There was a serious bug, so we had to make this new version available. Sorry if you had problems with converting the IMDb files. As bonus we added another nice (and working ;)) feature to the new release.
If you have not yet converted the IMDb files, you should really use the "JMDB-JavaDebug" Icon (you should disable "close on exit" in the settings of the program icon) or the startos2debug.cmd. There are displayed some infos whats going on! After you converted the data you can switch to the "normal version".
New in this Hotfix release:
  • (*) fixed serious bug that prevents converter from converting the actors/actresses (hang)
  • (+) import compressed (*.list.gz) or decompressed (*.list) IMDb files

AiR-BOOT v0.28 pre-release (from Martin Kiewitz)
I just included Linux Kernel FAT-16 support into the latest pre-release version of AiR-BOOT. It's working as far as I can tell on my computer(s), but I don't have Linux actually installed. I just have some kernels to mess around. So if someone has Linux and is willing to try out this pre-release, PLEASE contact me.
Previously raw kernel partitions were supported. Now this changed. AiR-BOOT is able to load kernels from a FAT-16 partition and they will get included on-the-fly into Bootmenu. My FAT-16 support is able to handle up to 4 GB (!) FAT-16 partitions (64k clusters). I can't actually test that feature because I don't have Windoze NT and I only got some 2 GB FAT partitions.
As soon as that feature got tested, I will finally release v0.28b. Afterwards I will continue my work on Virtual Soundblaster driver (that one got delayed as well).

Java Movie Database V0.99 beta (from Juergen Ulbts)
The Java Movie Database (JMDB) is a Java program which stores the Data from the IMDB Text files (Internet Movie Database) in several MySQL Tables. After you have imported the data, you can search for actors, movies, producers and actors. About the movies and people some details are shown. For more details look at the JMDB-Homepage!
There are a lot of changes since the last release (here are some of them):
  • finally made an WarpIN Archive available
  • no we use Threads everywhere!
  • rewrite of nearly all dialogs
  • complete new "simple result window" with a configurable and sortable table
  • bookmark function to add a movie in the "Bookmarks Movie Collection"
  • added "movie collections"
These are sets of movies defined in text files. With movie collections, the user can manage a Bookmark movie list and his own video or DVD lists inside JMDB.
  • complete new "detail window" (with quick navigation menu)
  • hyperlinks (movies, actors, directors, producers) to open a new detail window
  • added Java LookAndFeel support (now you can select different styles)
  • and much more....

One note:
Sometimes the import crashed on my machine, so we would like to hear some feedback from the users if it's really a problem or only my machine that's causing this error.

Windows Terminal Server client (from Jacco de Leeuw)
Source: comp.os.os2.networking.misc
I have uploaded a new version of rdesktop to Hobbes. This is a free (Open Source) RDP client ported from Unix to OS/2, which you can use to connect to a Windows NT/2000/XP Terminal Server. EMX and XFree86 are required.
New in this second release:
  • The OS/2 port is now free for commercial and non-commercial use. Previously, an old math library was used which excluded commercial use. Instead, rdesktop now uses a local copy of OpenSSL (BSD style license).
  • Upraded to the latest version, 1.1.0pl19-8-5, adding new options. For instance, with --built-in-license, rdesktop can now emulates a Windows 2000 Professional TS CAL license.
The latest version can also be found on my own webpage.

JCalc 0.20 (from Luc Van Bogaert)
My JCalc calculator version 0.20 for Java is freely available for download. It works quite well, but as this is one of my first attempts to create something usefull with Java (or any other programming language for that matter) don't expect too much of it ;-) JCalc requires Java 1.3.
