RC5-64 HAS BEEN SOLVED (from Bencivenga, Robert L.)
For those that are interested. [Editor's note: There is an RC5/DES OS/2 client and an OS/2 team working on the contest - Team Warped. ] It was announced by RSA Labs that the RC5-64 project found the winning key from Distributed.net.
On 14-Jul-2002, a relatively characterless PIII-450 in Tokyo returned the winning key to the distributed.net keyservers. The key 0x63DE7DC154F4D03 produces the plaintext output:
The unknown message is: some things are better left unread unfortunately, due to breakage in scripts (dbaker's fault, naturally) on the keymaster, this successful submission was not automatically detected. It sat undiscovered until 12-Aug-2002. The key was immediately submitted to RSA Labs and was verified as the winning key.

Warpstock US: Only 1 week left until Warpstock 2002 in Austin (from Luc Van Bogaert)
There is only one week left until the OS/2 event of the year at the 4 Star Renaissance hotel in Austin, Texas. Our reserved block of rooms has been exhausted, but don't fear as there are other options still available. Read about some of them in Jason Stefanovich's article in this month's OS/2eZine "Warpstock on a Budget".
Also as part of the contract we negotiated with the hotel, the $129 a night rate is good for single or double occupancy. If you are interested in finding someone to share a room with, Pete Grubbs has setup a mailing list on Yahoo! for people to exchange information.
And if you haven't done so yet, register for Warpstock 2002 and be in on all the fun and excitement. We are planning a prize give-away at the closing session. Current prizes include copies of Virtual PC, MCP1 (no Software Choice subscription), ACP1 (no Software Choice subscription), mousepads, shirts, t-shirts and a lot more. A lucky winner will receive the Linksys DSL/Cable Broadband Router that Warpstock is using for Network access this year, which is suitable for SOHO networks using OS/2, Linux, and Windows. You can register online with your VISA or MasterCard at our secure web store site.
The Warpstock Saturday Night Social has been sold out. We have been able to add a few more seats by utilizing an outside enclosed patio adjacent to our private room. We are considering making this area a smoking section, since it is the only place at the restaurant where smoking is permitted. If you are a smoker, and have already purchased a ticket for the social, please email Stan Sidlov.
If twenty volunteers step forward, we will move them onto the patio and free twenty seats inside. IF we can not find the required number of people, the patio will then be deemed a non-smoking area. If you are interested in attending, but were late in purchasing your ticket please reserve your seat by FAX using the CC form. You will be notified by email if your reservation has made the final cutoff, and your credit card will not be charged until the event in case of inclement weather forcing us to forgo use of the patio. The possibility of available seats at the event is slim since we must tell the restaurant in advance how many people to expect, but you may ask at the event registration desk.
To learn the latest information about OS/2 and eComstation, then come to Warpstock 2002, which this year is taking place in the home of OS/2 development. Warpstock will take place the weekend of October 5-6, 2002 in Austin, Texas at the Renaissance Austin Hotel. You can find the complete presentation schedule as well as event registration and hotel reservation information at our web site.

Warpstock (US) Airfares (from M. Dodel)
If you started looking at airfares to Austin a few months ago when Warpstock was announced, you may want to look again. Were you appalled at the high prices for airline tickets to Austin? Is that why you may have waited to register?
Well, the good news is that the airlines have entered their sweet spot for airfares. Orbitz <http://www.orbitz.com> , Travelocity <http://www.travelocity.com> and others are now showing the lowest fares to Austin, right now! One of our board members got a $105.00 round trip fare to Austin, Tx from Newark, NJ (1 stop, 1500 air miles, before taxes and surcharges). Now is the time to rethink your plans and book that flight.
Don't forget that the reduced rate for the hotel is over this coming weekend! Travelocity has our hotel listed for $189 and up that weekend, and the hotel has so many other events booked that weekend end, they expect to be filled. To complete your reservations at the Austin Renaissance Hotel:

Warpstock (US) social event (from Luc van Bogaert)
Join your fellow OS/2-eCS users for an evening of socializing, fun, entertainment and Texas Style Barbeque. We'll be having dinner in a Warpstock-only room at the The County Line BBQ. <http://www.countyline.com/index.html>
Set in an old lake lodge, the County Line on the Lake is right on Bull Creek just off Lake Austin, and has been well known for years as "The Place" in Austin to take out-of-town guests. Cocktails on the large redwood deck overlooking the water are a must.
We've ordered up a Texas-sized Cadillac platter for everyone - 5 different meats, all genuine Texas style Barbeque. Baked beans, cole slaw and potato salad, round out the menu. We're sorry, no subsitutions and there is no vegetarian platter available. In addition we have live musical entertainment planned.
Bus transportation, with a scenic drive from the Austin Renaissance hotel to the County Line restaurant, and return are included in the price. We require that everyone ride the bus to the event.
Seating for this event is very limited this year, so you may want to purchase your ticket as soon as possible. Once we have reached our limit no more tickets can be sold. To purchase your ticket to the Warpstock 2002 Social, please refer to the following URL: <http://www.warpstock.org/2002/registration/registration.html#social>
