JMDB v1.35 beta released (from Juergen Ulbts)
On 02/22/2006 the new version of the Java Movie Database has been released.
It\'s an open beta of version 1.35.

The Java Movie Database (JMDB) is a Java program which stores the data from the IMDb Text files
(Internet Movie Database - http://www.imdb.com/) in several MySQL/PosgreSQL tables.
After you have imported the data, you can search for actors, movies, producers and actors.
About the movies and people some details several details are shown.
For more details look at the JMDB-Homepage!

We recommend an update to the recent beta version, because changes made to the IMDb data (since
end of January 2006) are supported by this version (you can remove episode from the tv show from search results)
and the amount of main memory used to import the data is also higher than before the IMDb changes
(the -Xmx parameter in the start scripts has been updated).
The new version also allows to use PostgreSQL (NEW) and MySQL.

We are also still looking for volunteers that want to translate the program to other languages.
Please contact us via eMail (see website).

More details can be found on the homepage: http://www.jmdb.de/

ERRONEOUS DATA:
===============
Currently there are several errors in the IMDb data files, that have been introduced with the recent
IMDb change to include episodes of tv shows.
I\'ve corrected those entries (Title from movies and releasedates of episodes) and forwarded them
to the IMDb List-Keepers, but it takes time until they get submitted.
I hope they will be included with the next update.

Because of those errors you can\'t import the release-dates.list(.gz) if you use PostgreSQL
as long as the data is not corrected, because there will be a lot of errors generated by PostgreSQL.

If you want to import it anyway you need to correct the data manually.
First you need to extract the release-dates.list.gz. Then you need to edit the release-dates.list
file with a texteditor and correct the following dates (4 entries only - one date is used two times).
The following years do not have a 29th February...so you need to replace the 29 with a 28:
29 February 1997
29 February 1955
29 February 1954

Enigmail 0.94 for OS/2 and eComstation (from http://www.os2news.com)
The latest version of Enigmail is now available for os/2 and eComstation. It is downloadable from my warpzilla page:
http://www.dimi.uniud.it/bresolin/warpzilla/index.html Current version works with Thunderbird 1.5 and seamonkey 1.0. It does NOT work with the latest seamonkey alpha (1.1a), since seamonkey 1.1 is compiled with a different version of GCC.
http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ "Enigmail is an extension to the mail client of Mozilla / Netscape and Mozilla Thunderbird which allows users to access the authentication and encryption features provided by GnuPG."

Updated versions of ffmpeg and ffplay uploaded. (from http://www.os2news.com)
Paul Smedley has uploaded new versions of ffmpeg and ffplay to http://smedley.info/os2ports.html FFmpeg is a very fast video and audio converter.
The command line interface is designed to be intuitive, in the sense that FFmpeg tries to figure out all parameters that can possibly be derived automatically. You usually only have to specify the target bitrate you want.
FFmpeg can also convert from any sample rate to any other, and resize video on the fly with a high quality polyphase filter.
FFplay is a very simple and portable media player using the FFmpeg libraries and the SDL library. It is mostly used as a testbed for the various FFmpeg APIs.
