OS/2 port of Samba Server v3.0.24 now available (from http://www.os2news.com)
From: Paul Smedley < paulDESPAM@DESPAMsmedley.info >

Hi All,

An OS/2 & eComStation port of Samba Server v3.0.24 is now available at
http://smedley.info/os2ports

Samba is an Open Source/Free Software suite that has, since 1992, provided
file and print services to all manner of SMB/CIFS clients, including the
numerous versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems. Samba is freely
available under the GNU General Public License.

(Note that print support is currently unavailable).

This is based partly on the Netlabs port of v3.0.9 of the Samba Server,
however currently does NOT require Security/2

Notes of setting it up and status of testing of different clients can be
found at http://smedley.info/os2ports/samba.html

Feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul.

eComStation 2.0 Beta 4 available (from http://www.os2news.com)
From: : Joachim Benjamins < joachimDESPAM@DESPAMmensys.nl >

Serenity Systems International and Mensys BV are pleased to announce the
availability of eComStation 2.0 Beta 4.

This release is available to customers with an active Software
Subscriptions Services subcription.

== CHANGES ==

** Disk Resizer GUI **

This beta has a custom DFSee engine that enables reliable RESIZING of FAT32
and NTFS filesystems to allow shrinking an existing Windows installation to
make room for eComStation on the same system.

The GUI to this tool has been updated and is now using a graphical
interface. To invoke it, please select 'Paritition Resizing Tool' from the
Installation Volume Manager which can be called during installation.

** GenMac support **

This package provides generic driver support for several network interface
cards under OS/2 and eComStation. Moreover, Genmac is enabled to support
WPA encryption with the Wireless LAN Monitor 3.x or better.

Genmac and the Wireless LAN monitor will be installed when the appropriate
hardware is detected by the installer. If it is not detected, you can
manually select the driver in the network installation dialog.

Since the previous beta, GenMac installation has improved considerably.

** multicore CPU support **

This beta supports the installation of eComStation on a MultiCore CPU
computer. This includes Intel Core Duo, Core2 Duo and AMD 64 X2. To enable
this support, please select the appropriate feature in the installer
hardware page.

** ACPI 2.18 **

ACPI support has been updated to the latest available version (2.18) which
results in varying successrate. Testers with nVidia based computers report
more problems than before, others report more success than ever.

As always, the following applies:

!!! WHEN TESTING BETA SOFTWARE, ALWAYS BE SURE TO HAVE A TRIED AND TESTED
BACKUP OF YOUR SYSTEM !!!

== REPORTING ==

To tell us your findings, please create a report at:

http://www.ecomstation.com/support/beta4report/

You are also welcome to join the TestTeam if you want to discuss this beta
and future developments. See http://ewiki.ecomstation.nl/TestTeam for more
details.

== FAQ ==

At the reporting page above there are some FAQ entries to be found with
valuable tips for installation. Please make sure to review these in case of
problems.

== SOFTWARE SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES ==

Please note that although some subscriptions have expired by now, you are
not required to purchase a renewal to obtain the GA version of eComStation 2.0.

More details can be found at http://www.ecomstation.com/subscription/

Enjoy!

Current SVN Uniaud code Built - test version available (from http://www.os2news.com)
From: Paul Smedley < paulDESPAM@DESPAMsmedley.info >

Hi All,

I had some free time this afternoon so given the situation we're in
regarding uniaud, I spent a couple of hours working on compiling it.

I found several cases of borked makefiles and some missing files that I
managed to workaround.

A uniaud32.sys compiled by me is available from
http://download.smedley.info/uniaud32.zip

This is basically the SVN code where vladest finished off, except a few
files are updated from alsa source as they were missing in svn.

This driver works for me on my laptop and desktop machines, as well as on
Mike Greene's SMP machine (where Uniaud 1.1.4RC2 failed).

Note that I built this more out of curiosity than anything else - I don't
know that I know enough about device driver development (well knowing
something would be a good start!!!!) to continue to support this - however
I do think I'm capable of updating the alsa portions of the code.

Currently I'm basically just interested in whether this works for people
**who already have a working uniaud32.sys**.

[Moderator note: This is just the updated uniaud32.sys file. You need to
have first installed the full UNIAUD driver from netlabs.org for all the
associated files. ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/uniaud The last full driver
was uniaud_28012007_testcase.zip which includes both uniaud32.sys and
uniaud16.sys. The last complete archive that included an install batch
file, unimix and associated files was uniaud114RC2.zip ]

Thanks in advance,

DBCSMAP v1.0 veröffentlicht (from http://www.os2news.com)

Momentan: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/dbcsmap-1_0.zip
Später:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/international/dbcsmap-1_0.zip

Cameraderie v1.2 (from http://www.os2news.com)
Cameraderie v1.2 is a GUI organizer & downloader for your PTP digital camera (e.g. Canon, Kodak, etc). Instead of dumping a bunch of files in some directory and leaving you to sort out the mess, Cameraderie gives you the tools to view, organize, and rename your photos before they hit your
disk. In most cases, you can rename a group of photos and designate the folder to save them in by clicking a single button. It's quicker & easier than any file-based GUI app or commandline tool.

With v1.2, Cameraderie makes another task quicker & easier: viewing and saving your photos 'right-side up'. It uses a photo's Exif info to determines the correct orientation, then saves it using 'Lossless JPEG Rotation' to ensure the picture's quality remains unchanged.

v1.2 also adds a 'save-by-date' feature for those who prefer to file their photos by date rather than subject matter; and a 'Camera Info' dialog that provides some basic details about your camera.

Cameraderie supports cameras that use PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) and connect via USB (v1.1 & v2.0). It can be used in English, German, Dutch. & French, and is easy to translate into other languages. The program is open-source and released under the Mozilla Public License.

You can get Cameraderie from hobbes:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=camera12.zip

or directly from my site:
http://e-vertise.com/misc/camera12.zip

Original Message
Subject: [ANNOUNCE] PHP 5.2.1 Released!
Date: Thu, 8 Feb 2007 20:29:28 -0500
From: Ilia Alshanetsky < iliaDESPAM@DESPAMprohost.org >
To: php-announceDESPAM@DESPAMlists.php.net

BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE
Hash: SHA1

The PHP development team would like to announce the immediate availability of PHP 5.2.1. This release is a major stability and security enhancement of the 5.X branch, and all users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to it as
soon as possible.

Security Enhancements and Fixes in PHP 5.2.1:

* Fixed possible safe_mode & open_basedir bypasses inside the session extension.
* Prevent searchs engine from indexing the phpinfo() page.
* Fixed a number of input processing bugs inside the filter extension.
* Fixed unserialize() abuse on 64 bit systems with certain input strings.
* Fixed possible overflows and stack corruptions in the session extension.
* Fixed an underflow inside the internal sapi_header_op() function.
* Fixed allocation bugs caused by attempts to allocate negative values in some code paths.
* Fixed possible stack overflows inside zip, imap & sqlite extensions.
* Fixed several possible buffer overflows inside the stream filters.
* Fixed non-validated resource destruction inside the shmop extension.
* Fixed a possible overflow in the str_replace() function.
* Fixed possible clobbering of super-globals in several code paths.
* Fixed a possible information disclosure inside the wddx extension.
* Fixed a possible string format vulnerability in *print() functions on
64 bit systems.
* Fixed a possible buffer overflow inside mail() and
ibase_{delete,add,modify}_user() functions.
* Fixed a string format vulnerability inside the odbc_result_all() function.
* Memory limit is now enabled by default.
* Added internal heap protection.
* Extended filter extension support for $_SERVER in CGI and apache2 SAPIs.

The majority of the security vulnerabilities discovered and resolved can in most cases be only abused by local users and cannot be triggered remotely.
However, some of the above issues can be triggered remotely in certain situations, or exploited by malicious local users on shared hosting setups utilizing PHP as an Apache module. Therefore, we strongly advise all users of PHP, regardless of the version to upgrade to 5.2.1 release as soon as
possible. PHP 4.4.5 with equivalent security corrections will be available shortly.

The key improvements of PHP 5.2.1 include:

* Several performance improvements in the engine, streams API and some Windows specific optimizations.
* PDO_MySQL now uses buffered queries by default and emulates prepared statements to bypass limitations of MySQL's prepared statement API.
* Many improvements and enhancements to the filter and zip extensions.
* Memory limit is now always enabled, this includes Windows builds, with a default limit of 128 megabytes.
* Added several performance optimizations using faster Win32 APIs (this change means that PHP no longer supports Windows 98).
* FastCGI speed optimized build of PHP for Windows made available for downloading.
* Over 180 bug fixes.

For users upgrading from PHP 5.0 and PHP 5.1, an upgrade guide is available at http://www.php.net/UPDATE_5_2.txt, detailing the changes between those releases and PHP 5.2.1.

For a full list of changes in PHP 5.2.1, see the ChangeLog (
http://www.php.net/ChangeLog-5.php#5.2.1 ).

From: Paul Smedley < paulDESPAM@DESPAMsmedley.info >

Hi All,

I've just updated my build of Mplayer at http://smedley.info/os2ports

Fixed in this release:
* Detection of SSE and SSE2 CPU capabilities now works
* Playback in a PM window now works
* Updated to latest SVN code

MPlayer is a movie player which runs on many systems (see the
documentation). It plays most MPEG/VOB, AVI, Ogg/OGM, VIVO, ASF/WMA/WMV,
QT/MOV/MP4, RealMedia, Matroska, NUT, NuppelVideo, FLI, YUV4MPEG, FILM,
RoQ, PVA files, supported by many native, XAnim, and Win32 DLL codecs. You
can watch VideoCD, SVCD, DVD, 3ivx, DivX 3/4/5 and even WMV movies..

Cheers,

Paul.
