bootAble v6.4 released: ACPI support (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Thanks to Doug Bissett’s input I have been able to add ACPI support (this of course requires an ACPI enabled version of eCS) to bootAble. At the moment ACPI doesn’t seem to work for bootAble CD’s, only for maintenance partitions. It may however work for your system, so please report back our experience.

As always, you can find the latest version on my website:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~hrbaan/bootAble

Here are the full release notes:

*v6.4 (23/09/2009)*

* Added ACPI support (ACPI, thank you Doug Bissett for providing the
required input and beta testing);
Note: ACPI support on a bootAble CD does not seem to work, at
least on some systems, due to blocking-out INT13 support. If you
find it works for you, or know a work-around for this, please let
me know.
* Now also adding snoop.lst when including testcfg.sys;
* When building a SNAP WPS-enabled system, the line "SET
DISPLAYTYPE=..." would get added twice to the config.sys;
* Updated documentation to use inline stylesheet. Documentation now
also conforms to XHTML 1.0 Strict rules.

Note: if you do not want to receive any more mails regarding updates to bootAble, please let me know and I will remove you from the list.

Regards,

Hayo Baan  http://www.xs4all.nl/~hrbaan>

FM/2 has been updated to version 3.17.0 (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

This version comes with a lot of changes, provides a high memory version and a low memory version. Also, many bug fixes and enhancements are contained in this version. Check the changelog.txt file for all the changes.

It presently can be found at Hobbes in the Incoming directory.
Later it will be (most likely) moved to pub/os2/util/browser.

Updates from version 1.08 (based on user feedback :-)

  • Textual updates, ThinkPad instead of Thinkpad
  • Better usage help text on the startup parameters
  • Stealth mode now also keeps the program out of the
    Windowlist and most other related displays.

PMTPOSD2 is an ’On Screen Display’ utility for ThinkPads
to be used on an OS/2 or eComStation desktop, it shows:

  • Speaker volume setting with audible feedback
  • LCD screen brightness setting
  • Monitor selection VGA/LCD/DUAL

For installation and usage check the enclosed readme.txt

Note:
Does NOT work in combination with the new ACPI drivers, as used with eComStation version 2.xx

It is an OPEN SOURCE program, sources and a makefile for Openwatcom are included.
