FM/2 3.12 Released (from http://www.os2news.com)
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Gregg Young < ygkDESPAM@DESPAMqwest.net >

I have just uploaded FM/2 3.11 to ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/fm2
(moving to ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/fm2 )
and to hobbes
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-browse?dir=/pub/incoming&sort=date
moving to
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-browse?sh=1&dir=//pub/os2/util/browser

FM/2 3.12 Fixes a bug introduced in 3.11 (trap when viewing multiple files
from an archive at the same time). It also adds Open Default, Open Settings
and via an accel key ctrl + l Open Multimedia (using FM2play.exe) to the
archive viewer. FM/2 now uses the system TMP/TEMP directory for it
temporary files and cleans up after a crash on the next restart. FM/2
creates a subdirectory of the pattern $FM2*.*. The settings notebook can
now be closed using esc, F3 or enter; the last 2 save any changes that have
been made. You can now select which environment variables to show when
using show the environment in the drive tree. Just add or remove from the
list on the 'Tree' page of the notebook. It defaults initially to the
current list. You can now save/append either a full pathname or just a
filename or a list of either to the clipboard. We have changed the wording
in the menus to make this easier to find. We fixed a few other minor issues
see the history for more details.

Clipview 3.3 is released (from http://www.os2news.com)
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Dave Saville < daveDESPAM@DESPAMdeezee.org >

Clipview 3.3 is released

http://www.deezee.org/ClipView.html

New features bug fixes etc:

Added -F Font switch.
Added timeout to 'Browse on URL Capture' query pop up.
Added allow comments in ClipProcess file.
Fixed some minor problems in the help file.
Implemented context sensitive help.

Clipview is now NLS ready.
Supported languages are: Dutch, French, German & Swedish.

If you want your language and are prepared to translate then
drop me an email for the files etc..

N.B.
ClipView 3.3 implements context sensitive help via the F1 key. If
you
use xwpwidgets then you must get the latest 0.7.3 release from
Hobbes
or Netlabs to avoid a crash.

ClipView 2.5 & above uses a changed .ClipSave format.
It is NOT backwards compatible.
Upgrading from earlier versions should not present any problems.

I don't know about you, but I always seem to want to paste what I clipped
three operations back :-) So I wrote ClipView, based on the Unix program
cutview.

The Clipview suite of programs consists of:

ClipView v3.3 - Gives multiple text clipboards. Clips may be printed,
edited, saved to a buffer and locked. Optionally the entire set of clips
and their state can be saved across invocations of ClipView.

ClipPrint v1.2 - Prints the current text contents of the clipboard.

PipeClip v2.3 - Used on the command line to pipe output to the clipboard.
eg dir /w | pipeclip

ClipPipe v1.0 - Used on the command line to pipe input from the clipboard.
eg clippipe | someprogram

ClipWait v1.0 - Used in scripts to wait until something gets written to
the clipboard.

CV_Client_OS2 2.1 } These are now considered stable.
} They allow clipboards to communicate
CV_Server_OS2 2.1 } across machines.

CV_Client_WIN 2.1 } These are considered Beta.
} They allow clipboards to communicate
CV_Server_WIN 2.1 } across machines.

PMMail 3.01 released (from http://www.os2news.com)
From: Neil Waldhauer < neilDESPAM@DESPAMblondeguy.com >

PMMail for OS/2 version 3.01 has been released. PMMail for OS/2 is an e-mail client for OS/2 and eComStation. More information and a free download of the demonstration version of the program are available on our website at http://pmmail.os2voice.org

New features in PMMail 3.01

* Addition of new Incoming filter type: Incoming (pre-MC). Filters of this type operate on a message before the Mail Classifier (bogofilter) processes the message. The old filter type 'Incoming' is now named 'Incoming (post-MC)'.
* Character set aliases: Some character set names have common misspellings. The Charset alias option allows these to be defined for a given standard character set name.
* Most Recently Used address list updated only when a message is sent. Previously it was updated when any address was added to the TO/CC address.
* The Minimized window for PMMail flashes when new mail has been retrieved. The length of time that it flashes may be limited to some fixed time.
* Drag-n-Drop (aka: Direct Manipulation) message from the Search window.
* Attachments may be dragged from the Read window to the Desktop.
* Fully compatible with tcp/ip v4.0 (16 bit stack).
* Timezone recognition improvements.
* When re-indexing a folder, the timezone and daylight savings time are respected for the message's sent timestamp.
* When replying to a message and the message's character set is different from the default charset, a warning pops up about the discrepancy. The warning may be overridden in Settings::Locale.
* Mail Classifier updates may now be set for every XX program shutdown.
* The TEMP directory may be set to a different path than in the Account directory. This increases performance when the mailstore is located on a remote system.
* Improvements in the Spelling Checker
* Performance enhancements in processing message filters and
address books.
* Numerous defects fixed.

eComStation 2.0 RC5 available (from http://www.os2news.com)
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Joachim Benjamins < joachimDESPAM@DESPAMmensys.nl >

Serenity Systems International and Mensys BV are pleased to announce the immediate availability of eComStation 2.0 Release Candidate 5.

This release is available to customers with an active Software Subscriptions Services subcription. It adds a few new features and contains a lot of updated drivers and fixes.

More details can be found at:

http://www.ecomstation.com/subscription/

!!! WHEN TESTING BETA SOFTWARE, ALWAYS BE SURE TO HAVE A TRIED AND TESTED BACKUP OF YOUR SYSTEM !!!

The most notable changes since RC4 are listed below.

** Preboot harddisk integrity check **

There are several situations which may cause installation problems with LVM in the install process. In this release, it is possible to disable the integrity check at page 2 (miscellaneous) of the eComStation installer preboot menu. The checks have been further enhanced and should detect more potential problems.

** Harddisk volume resizing **

This release candidate has a custom DFSee engine that enables reliable RESIZING of FAT32 and NTFS filesystems to allow shrinking an existing Windows installation to make room for eComStation on the same system. The DFSee engine included is at level 9.04.

The GUI to control the resizing has been rewritten for improved performance and reliability. To invoke it, please select 'Paritition Resizing Tool' from the Installation Volume Manager which can be called during installation (choose 'New Volume' to start the Installation Volume Manager).

** Experimental HDA Audio support **

The support for for HDA audio on new mainboards is highly experimental and can be selected manually in the installer, but may cause your system to hang during boot.
Before reporting a bug that your system hangs, please make certain that you do not have this UNIAUD build installed.

** Genmac 2.20a GA **

This package provides generic driver support for several network interface cards under OS/2 and eComStation. Moreover, Genmac is enabled to support WPA encryption with the Wireless LAN Monitor 3.x or better.

Genmac and the Wireless LAN monitor will be installed when the appropriate hardware is detected by the installer. If it is not detected, you can manually select the driver in the network installation dialog. The XWLAN eCenter widget will be automatically added when eWPS is selected to be installed.

It is now possible to select a GenMac driver regardless of the hardware being present in the system.

** ACPI 3.09 & APM 1.24 **

Support for ACPI is available in this release. The current version is 3.09. ACPI will be automatically enabled if appropriate hardware is detected. You can manually enable or disable ACPI support at page 4 (USB & ACPI) of the eComStation installer preboot menu.

The ACPI configuration tool 'ACPI Wizard' has been rewritten to behave more like a true wizard. It will not allow selection of options that seem not to be supported on your system. You can manually call the Wizard with many commandline parameters to configure the system to your
wishes, please see FAQ.TXT for an explanation on the parameters.

** multicore CPU support **

This release supports the installation of eComStation on a MultiCore CPU computer. This includes Intel Core Duo , Core2 Duo and AMD 64 X2. To enable it, you can do so in the ACPI Wizard that is launched from the Post Installation tasks at the end of the installation. Alternatively you can start the ACPI Wizard at any time from the install/remove folder in the Local System folder on the desktop.

** Improved hardware support **

An effort was made to improve the amount of detected devices. This should mainly help for the detection of network cards. The number of supported and detected USB controllers has been increased from 4 to 8, enabling more systems to properly boot from the boot CD. This release includes a new version of the Dani IDE drivers, supporting
many more SATA controllers and mixed controller environments.

** eComStation Virtual File System (Samba client support) **

Samba is a SMB/CIFS protocols file and print sharing server/client set originally made for UNIX world to cooperate with corresponding Windows and OS/2 servers or clients. eComStation has a native implementation of
SMB/CIFS server/client set - IBM LAN Manager and IBM Peer. These products have not been recently updated and may have some compatibility issues with modern Windows SMB/CIFS implementations.

** EVFS GUI **

There now is a GUI that will make it easier to configure network access using the Samba protocol. There is one big limitation though, the tool cannot determine if a network connection was properly created - so it will not provide sensible feedback on that, instead it will always
create a mountpoint which may be empty if the actual connection fails. The object for this tool is placed in the '
