SeaMonkey 2.6 unofficial (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Merry Christmas,

I’ve (hopefully) uploaded an unofficial SeaMonkey 2.6 to http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/mozilla/seamonkey-2.6.en-US.os2.zip

/>No OS/2 changes in this version besides the README so it probably has all the same problems as 2.5. So far I’ve had one font related crash, otherwise quite stable.

I also screwed up so this build depends on gcc432.dll.
I’ll upload Thunderbird, Firefox, lightening etc over the next few days. These will also be unofficial builds.

DFSee 11.0 availability from the webshop (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

FYI about DFSee 11.0 availability

DFSee version 11.0 has been released yesterday, and is
available for download from the DFSee website as anounced.

Unfortunately, the webshop at mensys is not quite ready
for that yet, it still lists the version 10.x products.

However, ALL keys sold since July 2011 heve been VALID 11.x
keys already, and so are all keys sold now.

So with THE EXCEPTION OF CDROM PRODUCTS, there is no problem
getting a version 11.x key now, either new or as an upgrade.

For the CDROM, there is a chance that the 10.9 version would
be delivered, so I would hold off with getting those until
the Mensys site is properly updated.

There is a new release of ODIN on the Netlabs FTP server. ODIN is the Open Source project to provide a win32 API for OS/2 and eComStation. Originally to allow OS/2 users to run Windows 32 bit applications. Now used to port windows applications to OS/2 and eComStation. The Odin runtime is a requirement for the newest developed versions of JAVA and Flash 10 for OS/2 and eCS.

Debug SYM files: http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/odin/0.8.1/odin-0.8.1-debug-debuginfo.zip

Note in the Changelog below, this version now requires:

 GCC runtime v4.4.6
 http://class='extlink'http://sourceforge.net/projects/ecsports/files/GCC%20Runtime%20DLLs/gcc446.zip

Changelog

0.8.1 (2011-12-19)

runtime. This improves the stability by getting rid of the old and
bogus C runtime of IBM VAC.
 - Increase the minor version number due to the compiler change.
 - shlwapi: Enable SHAutoComplete() stub (needed for WinRar 4.x).
 - kernel32: Add GetUserDefaultUILanguage() and VerifyVersionInfoW()
 (stub)needed for newer Flash modules.
 - Temporarily remove the win32k driver from the packages (not ready to
be built with the new build framework at the present time).

Drag and drop install script for firefox - v.005 (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Just drop any Firefox zip file on the object and it automatically unzips and installs Firefox. It has two options, 1) update existing installation and 2) specify install location for Firefox !

http://www.os2notes.com/os2firefoxdd.html

Updated to v.005

Simple install option:

-Backups \Firefox to \Firefox-Bak

-Keeps file associations

-Shows default location

-Default install to: x:\Programs\Firefox

-Can change default location in script

Advanced install option:

- Makes backup of old version

- Specify location for installation

- RUN! is now included - auto setup not added yet

Advanced - MultPass

- Same as Advance

- Keeps old version of Firefox

Directory layout looks like this:

Icon Theme Toolkit v2.1 (BetaZone) (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Version 2.1 of the Icon Theme Toolkit is now available to all users on the eComStation BetaZone. This release includes support for the modified theme format (including the new icons) introduced in ITheme v2.1.

Look for it under the BetaZone "Icon Themes" project. The filename is "itheme_toolkit_21.zip".
Like previous toolkit releases, this is not particularly polished, and provides little in the way of automation. You still need to manually copy the necessary template files and build scripts to your theme working directory. Hopefully the process is reasonably straightforward.

I have simplified the resources scripts slightly by eliminating the need for copying a few duplicate icons. These are noted in the HTML documentation. (This process is not complete; notably the MMPM icons still need to be copied repeatedly. Further improvements would have
taken considerably more time to implement, and I thought it better to release a usable toolkit ASAP.)

This release includes instructions for building the new "installable theme" (.ITH) package format.

PL/Java: considering dropping support for OS/2 (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

( NOTE: Please send all followup to Johann ’Myrkraverk’  Oskarsson  http://class='mailtolink'; johann@2ndquadrant.com )

Hi all,

Introduction: PL/Java is a PostgreSQL module that allows Java code to run inside the database. I am its official maintainer. The JDBC driver for PostgreSQL (what is used to talk to the server with Java applications) is a different and unrelated project.

I’ve been considering dropping the OS/2 specific code from the build system. OS/2 is no longer officially supported platform for PostgreSQL itself.

I am not testing it on OS/2 and I am not sure anyone is using it.

If you are aware of anyone who is using it on OS/2 or might consider using it yourself, please speak up now.

( NOTE: Please send all followup to Johann ’Myrkraverk’   Oskarsson  http://class='mailtolink'; johann@2ndquadrant.com )
