Warpstock Europe: Sessions and news (from http://www.os2news.com)
More sessions:
If you are reading this in your web browser or email client, you most likely are running "something" that was ported and built for OS/2 or eComStation by Peter Weilbacher. Well... we are pleased to announce that Peter Weilbacher will be coming to Cologne to talk about the Mozilla projects he is involved in. Also, it gives us great pleasure to have Jan van Wijk confirming his presence too - he"ll show and talk about the features of the latest and greatest DFSee. Don"t miss the chance to get the best possible answers for your DFSee questions! Youth Hostel Accommodation:
Now for the bad news - if you intend to stay at the Youth Hostel -sigh- you will not only have to deal with paperwork (snail-mail or fax) for the reservation, but also you will need to pay in advance via money transfer or credit card (Visa and Master Card accepted). Sadly, this again proves, that there"s more than just a single letter that makes the difference between a hotel and a hostel. ;-) We are very sorry about the inconvenience this might cause, but it"s something unfortunately out of our control.
Get the news automatically: Since today, we also have a 2006 edition of the event news plugin module for Doodle"s Screensaver that was built for us especially by Robert Henschel (many thanks!). The module can be downloaded from the Netlabs.org server. The download link as well as all (hopefully) necessary information are at the event website http://www.warpstock.eu (see the "Support" subpage).
To speak or not to speak: As with all previous news, we would like to remind again, (and again and again...) that we are still accepting speakers! Did we already mention that all speakers have free admittance to the event on their presentation day(s)? (hint, hint, hint!) :-) Talkback enabled: Getting in contact with us is very simple: Just use the links that are provided on the "contacts" subpage of the event website - whether you"re a speaker, commercial exhibitor, a visitor ...or just a frustrated Youth hostel customer ;-) just tell us what"s up.
More information is available at www.warpstock.eu. You can always contact the organizers via infoDESPAM@DESPAMwarpstock.net.
Yours kindly -warpstock europe 2006 organisation team-

FinnSoft presentation - Warpstock X - Windsor, Ontario, (from http://www.os2news.com)
It"s now official - Finnegan Software will be making a second consecutive trip to Warpstock, and will again have a presence at the show in the vendor area. Please stop on by!
New this year will be an official presentation on the latest technology in computer hardware, geared toward eComStation usage, of course, and tips and tweaks in selecting new gear to install and run the latest eCS code, in a "Buyer"s Guide" format of what to look for, and what to avoid (admittedly a much larger list!).
In addition, we"re having a "Take it with you!" special for show attendees who wish to save on shipping of a complete custom-assembled PC to run the latest eComStation code - simply contact me to discuss your needs, and we"ll bring along a PC for you to the show, so you can take it home with you as luggage. Don"t delay - the show"s only 23 days away! Of course, we"ll have the usual compliment of T-shirts and such...
Looking forward to seeing everyone... book your tickets now! -Derek, FinnSoft Owner (when the cat"s not looking) derekDESPAM@DESPAMfinnsoft.com
Finnegan Software, Inc. - is a privately-owned Ontario, Canada corporation dealing in custom high-end, high-availability rackmount servers and workstations, focusing on small businesses without on-staff IT people, using a mix of Windows, Linux and OS/2 systems, and the eComStation & OS/2 community at large in North America. Incorporated in Feb 1995, we"ve been a part of the OS/2 community since (our) Day 1.
Derek W. Keoughan is the owner of Finnegan Software, Inc., a devoted attendee to Finnegan, his 15-year-old tabby, and an OS/2 user since v2.0 and the salmon-coloured 5.25" diskettes. When he"s not at the hockey rink being pasted with pucks, he"s busy meeting the needs of his clients all over the Greater Toronto Area he calls home, and putting eCS systems together for clients all over North America.
And you, my good friend, need to find something else to do with your time than read through the last little details of such a shoddily-written press release. :)
See ya at Warpstock!

Warpstock Europe 2006 News update (from http://www.os2news.com)
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ It gives the organizers of this years community event great pleasure to announce that the first speakers have signed up and we have settled the first couple of presentations. Peter Koller, Christian Hennecke and Dave Saville were the first to knock at the doors, followed by Andreas Schnellbacher, Eugene Gorbunoff and fellows from the eCoSoft team. Adrian Gschwend (netlabs.org) will be on-site with at least one session and Chuck McKinnis is even going to cross the Atlantic to give us the pleasure of two presentations. More details are available on the event website at: www.warpstock.eu
Yesterday, Team OS/2 Germany also committed its presence at Cologne, coupled with sessions yet to be announced and -- many thanks -- various on-site helpers to ensure a smooth organisation of the event. Team Ruhr, Team Trier, and Team Hamburg will have booths in the user groups room.
The overall "international" character of the event is already impressive at this very early stage of planning: So far, we have people coming here from countries like Sweden, Spain, UK, France, Russia, Ukraina, USA, The Netherlands, Switzerland (and Germany, of course).
We have updated the event website with information about the rooms at the Youth Hostel, registration information for visitors planning to stay the youth hostel and travellers by air plane (a minor update about train ticket machines at the Cologne airport).
Nevertheless, we are still open for suggestions and offerings for sessions. Use the website"s contacts page to tell us what you have to say or show to the community.
And if you ever wondered what certain people look like -- the developers of your favorite piece of software -- why not come to Cologne and have chat with them? Meet fellow warpers in person, get the latest news about the present and future of the operating systems of your choice, get onsite troubleshooting for your problems and see that everything is far from being so-called dead.
By the way: If you"re not tuned much into computers and just need to come to Cologne because your husband or wife is busy "warping" around at the Youth Hostel, Cologne offers great shopping, sightseeing and entertainment facilities. :-)
Looking forward to see you in Cologne! The Warpstock Europe 2006 organisation team

Warpstock X hotel reservations (from http://www.os2news.com)
Warpstock 2006 is rapidly approaching. 17 days to reserve your hotel accommodation.
We have a cutoff date coming up soon.
The hotel has agreed to hold our room block until September 20th, 2006 at the special conference rate of $115 CAD (Canadian dollars).
After that date, any unbooked rooms will be released for general sale.
All requests received after this date will be handled on a space and rate availability basis.
This could leave you paying a much higher rate for the same room.
Warpstock needs to meet a certain number of room nights or we will be forced to pay a penalty.
By booking your room through Warpstock, you help keep the costs of Warpstock manageable.
General Warpstock location information: http://www.warpstock.org/staticpages/index.php?page=ws2006_location including link to: http://www.allisonstravel.on.ca/warpstock.html#hotelreg where hotel reservations are being done.
