Mozilla Installer script (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Lars Erdmann has released an installer script for the Mozilla apps Firefox, SeaMonkey and Thunderbird.

"This is a REXX script and associated tool to add some program objects to the desktop for
Seamonkey/Thunderbird/Firefox.  Additionally, "fechg.exe" will deactivate Innotek Font Engine for the application.  It will also allow to reactivate Innotek Font Engine support. Run "fechg.exe" for help. See REXX script for additional info about support for Rich Walsh’s "run!.exe"."

This script has to be run from the directory you have the Mozilla app installed in.  View the readme.txt and the script itself for more information.  Source is included for his Font Engine updating program.  The main point of this is to remove the Mozilla apps from being processed by the Innotek Font engine, which is no longer required for these apps and can lead to hangs and traps.

Firefox-8.0.1, Seamonkey-2.5 and Thunderbird-8.0 for OS/2 released (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Hi,
after mostly positive feedback for the betas, I built and uploaded the final releases.
Still I could not upload firefox-8.0.1 to the mozilla ftp server.
Please, download it from netlabs:
http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/mozilla/firefox-8.0.1.en-US.os2.zip />Thunderbird and Seamonkey betas can be downloaded from mozilla
http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/8.0/contrib/thunderbird-8.0.en-US.os2.zip />http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/2.5/contrib/seamonkey-2.5.en-US.os2.zip

One known issue: If you have chosen to print to pdf files and print more than one file, the fonts in the first one will be fine, but starting with the second pdf file unexpected spaces appear between the single letters. In this case one has to restart firefox and print the document again.

Have fun, Walter

Order Icons for your app (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

The desktop of eComStation is changing..

Look how the icon of folder was changing in time:

Sunny icons history: folder icon

Are you going distribute your application via eCo Market?

The users don’t like ugly apps, we (would like) can draw an icon / logo for your application / utility.

Firefox-8.0b6, Thunderbird-8.0b5 and Seamonkey-2.5b3 betas (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Hi,

Due to the fast release cycles we were missing v7 of Firefox and Thunderbird and v2.4 of Seamonkey. Now, we try to keep up with v8 and v2.5, respectively.

The cairo graphics engine and the preferences backend were overhauled.  As a consequence we had to change quite a few lines within the new printing code from Rich Walsh. In limited testing those changes seem to not introduce new bugs. However, we need more brave testers before we will decide whether or not v8.0 GA versions can be realized. So please test these beta versions and report here.

Due to an unexpected restriction I could not upload firefox-8.0b6 to the mozilla ftp server. Therefore, you can get it from netlabs:
http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/mozilla/firefox-8.0b6.en-US.os2.zip />Thunderbird and Seamonkey betas can be downloaded from mozilla
http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/8.0b5-candid />ates/build1/contrib/thunderbird-8.0b5.en-US.os2.zip
http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/2.5b3-candidat />es/build1/contrib/seamonkey-2.5b3.en-US.os2.zip

You should be able to use them on existing profiles. However, it is prudent to make a backup of your profile before or create a new one.

Walter

Bridge2-Hi Ver. 1.7 (from http://news.warpevents.eu/)

CHEN, Biao has uploaded a new version of Bridge2-Hi.  "Bridge2 - Hi (Hi is the abbreviation of Hanzi Input) is an Input-Method software for Chinese characters. ’Hanzi’ is the written pronunciation of - means Chinese character. You can use Bridge2-Hi to input Hanzi into any PM application running on the OS/2"

"Ver. 1.7 is a new milestone which has solved lot of bugs in former versions and makes the running much more stable. The most important enhancement is that it supports inputting to OpenOffice.org applications from ver. 2.0 and above."
