Gendatam Suite Beta 2 (from http://www.os2news.com)
Web site: http://www.gendatam.com/ Gendatam Suite is a Family History application.
Beta version 2 of Gendatam Suite for OS/2 is now available at the website http://www.gendatam.com/. Gendatam Suite uses its own data model while providing support for the usual Gedcom format. The current Beta adds an improved user interface, improved gedcom access and an optional macro facility for data entry. Files of any size may be read.
The application is a Java program which has been pre-compiled for use on OS/2. Running as native code makes the application generally quicker and more responsive.
The application has its own look-and-feel. This provides a consistent interface regardless of the host system.
OS/2 users may be interested in this application for a number of reasons: - It is written in Java but packaged as an OS/2 native code program. - It is a family history program available first on OS/2, but also to be available on the Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP series with data compatibility between operating systems.
This beta will be of particular interest to those people who like to see how well programs will read the various varieties of Gedcom files.
This current beta version expires at the end of August.
Feedback is welcome as noted on the website. Feedback is particularly requested from OS/2 users (there were all of about 20 downloads for OS/2 beta 1).
A note to archive administrators: The version is a beta version which incorporates an expiry date. There is no point in archiving it.

The Battle for Wesnoth v1.1.2 for OS/2 & eComStation (from http://www.os2news.com)
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Paul Smedley < paulDESPAM@DESPAMsmedley.info > I"ve just uploaded an initial build of The Battle for Wesnoth for OS/2 & eComStation to my ports page at http://smedley.info/os2ports.html & the work-in-progress new site at http://smedley.info/os2ports/ The Battle for Wesnoth is a free, turn-based strategy game with a fantasy theme. Fight a desperate battle to reclaim the throne of Wesnoth, or take hand in any number of other adventures.
More information is available at http://www.wesnoth.org/wiki/Description It was built using Innotek GCC v3.3.5 CSD1 version and requires the runtime dll from ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc/libc-0.6.0-ga2.zip The necessary SDL dll"s are included, however it is worthwhile checking ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/sdl for newer versions. At the time of writing, ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/sdl/sdl-1.2.10-bin-20060517.zip is the latest.
This has not been tested extensively, but I have played through a couple of tutorials, and fired up the editor (wesnoth_editor.exe). In particular, campaignd.exe, cutter.exe, exploder.exe & wesnothd.exe have not been tested at all, but are included for the brave at heart.
Please send any feedback or encouragement on this release to paulDESPAM@DESPAMsmedley.info, bugs can be reported via the bug tracker at http://mantis.smedley.info Finally, for those that feel so inclined, can support my efforts via Paypal using the link at http://smedley.info/os2ports/ Cheers, Paul Smedley Adelaide, Australia 20th May, 2006

ffmpeg/ffplay/Ports Page updated (from http://www.os2news.com)
HI All, I thought it was about time to update FFMpeg & FFplay from the latest code in the sourceforge repository.
As a reminder of what ffmpeg/ffplay do:
FFmpeg is a complete solution to record, convert and stream audio and video. It includes libavcodec, the leading audio/video codec library. FFmpeg is developed under Linux, but it can compiled under most operating systems, including Windows.
The project is made of several components:
* ffmpeg is a command line tool to convert one video file format to another. * ffplay is a simple media player based on SDL and on the FFmpeg libraries.
I"ve also started working on a revised web page for my ports - any feedback on this is appreciated.
The old ports page is at http://smedley.info/os2ports.html - the new is http://smedley.info/os2ports Thanks, Paul Smedley Adelaide, Australia 11th May, 2006
