| Hallo, hier mal ein autorisierter Auszug aus meinen Mails mit ROM Logicware:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hm ... ich formulier\' dann lieber nochmal ins Reine, wenn das \"öffentlich\" werden soll. Es wird in wenigen Wochen recht sicher nochmals eine aktuelle Papyrus-Version für OS/2 geben (wir sind schon im Betatest-Stadium derselben, verläuft dieser positiv, releasen wir auch, sofern wir nicht noch auf \"finstere\" ;-) Probleme stoßen). Preis ist derselbe wie für die anderen Versionen, incl. späteren Umstiegsmöglichkeiten. Die Papyrus 2008 Version für OS/2 wird allerdings einige Kleinigkeiten nicht enthalten, die in den anderen Versionen enthalten sind, insbesondere wird es keine Duden Korrektor Rechtschreibkorrektur geben, da Brockhaus Duden Neue Medien, Heidelberg keine OS/2 Version hiervon hat (wir bitten auch dringend zur \"Nervenschonung\" unseres Geschäftspartners, von dbzgl. Anfragen dort abzusehen!). Auch bei uns ist Papyrus 2008 OS/2 ein \"Spaß\"-Projekt aus Liebe zu OS/2. Wirtschaftlich ergibt es keinerlei Sinn, daher bitten wir für die (von uns so gering wie möglich gehaltenen) Einschränkungen um Verständnis. Auch wird es recht sicher keine weitere Version von Papyrus für OS/2 mehr geben, mit Papyrus 2008 ist definitiv Schluss. Mit einem dicken \"Leider\" unsererseits, aber dennoch. Auch kann und darf die OS/2-Version den \"normalen\" Betrieb nicht aufhalten, Fragen zur Weiterentwicklung und Terminen werden also eher mit \"gebremstem Schaum\" beantwortet werden (Support-Fragen beantworten wir natürlich genauso sorgfältig wie die aller anderen Papyrus-Besitzer auch). Wir legen immer wieder mal ein paar Tage ein, wenn es nicht so \"brennt\", aber Geld verdienen müssen wir als kleinere Firma leider auch, daher haben halt Mac und (ja, ich weiß, aber das ist nun einmal der Hauptmarkt) Win leider Vorrang. o This build has IBM Peer/LANServer share and printer migration fully implemented and enabled in the menu. o In addition the context menu to add/remove share was rewritten. o Caution: The \"winbind separator\" bug is still not completely ironed out, however it is less likely to occur and it doesn\'t have dramatic consequences (at least as long as there is no working winbindd.exe on OS/2). Nevertheless there is still a lot of work to be done. Please, please, please, read the enclosed readme.sscc before using SSCC (and always have a backup of a working smb.conf around). Make sure you copy sscc.exe into the Samba directory (i.e. the one where testparm.exe resides). | I have finally found time to build the 5th (and last) beta of Firefox 3. It should appear linked from http://www.mozilla.org/ports/os2/ soon.[*] Note that the ReadMe linked there lists the major problems of the OS/2 version (again, that list didn\'t get much shorter than for beta 4).
The few OS/2 specific improvements since 3.0 beta 4: - Finally make bookmark tooltips and popups appear in front of the bookmarks menu (thanks go to Stefan Schmohl!). - Some improvements to the default theme on OS/2 (by Walter Meinl). - Reduce the download and on-disk size a little bit by packaging only necessary theme graphics and strip all binaries. - Allow RWS to be switched off. - In principle allow plugin content to be printed, but no OS/2 plugins seem to support this. Java 1.4.2_17 kann mittels dem üblichen aros2.exe hack ebenfalls unter OS/2 zum Laufen gebracht werden. Nachdem das Überkopieren der Java 1.4.2 EXE Dateien sogar mit Java 1.5.0_07 funktioniert, sollte es mit diesem eigentlich auch gehen (nicht probiert). <http://pmw-warpzilla.sf.net/>: - SeaMonkey 1.1.9 (PmW) - PmW-Fx 2.0.0.13 - PmW-Tb 2.0.0.13 They are all based on Gecko 1.8.1.13 on the date of 27 Mar 2008 and built from the exact same sources. They correspond directly to the respective official releases of SeaMonkey, Firefox, and I hope that the upcoming official Thunderbird release will be based on the same sources. As usual all applications need libc063.dll to install and run. These releases pick up all the changes done by Mozilla since my last Gecko 1.8.1.x release, i.e. between 28 Jan 2008 and 11 Mar 2008. This includes fixes for 6 security issues, two of them of critical importance. No OS/2 specific changes during this time. The only new OS/2 change in these enhanced packages is a proper display of the \"File Selected Messages\" menu and was contributed by Walter Meinl.
