As of right now, Everybuddy has support for AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo! and Jabber chat programs. It also has file transfer between other Everybuddy users, and planned support for file transfer to other users.

IBM is trying to alert its customers to a potential problem which could affect WebSphere Application Server. To the best of my knowledge, this alert also applies to users of WebSphere Application Server for OS/2 Warp (available through IBM Software Choice).
If you are using the DummyKey Ring provided by IBM with WebSphere, and you have enabled security, you run the risk of stopping WebSphere on July 19, 2001. Read on for more information on how to deal with this potential problem.
If you are not using the IBM-provided DummyKey Ring and/or do not have security enabled, or if you are using WebSphere Application Server for OS/390, please disregard this notice.
THE PROBLEM: The IBM-provided DummyKey Ring in certain releases of WebSphere Application Server has a certificate expiration date of July 19, 2001. WebSphere Application Server releases prior to 3.5.3 or 3.02.4 on all platforms except OS/390 are likely affected. All communications to/from the server will halt when the certificate expires, if security has been enabled. If multiple servers are tied together for communications, all servers must have the same level of unexpired certificates in order to continue functioning.
IDENTIFICATION: The Dummy KeyRing sample certificate expiration on July 19, 2001, will affect you only if ALL of the following conditions are true:
  1. Running WebSphere Application Server Version 3.0, 3.0.1, 3.0.2, 3.0.2.1, 3.0.2.2, 3.0.2.3, 3.5, 3.5.1, or 3.5.2.
    • Verify by looking in the ...\properties\com\ibm\websphere directory. Look inside the product.properties (3.0.x) or product.xml (3.5.x) file.
    • eFix PQ47370 is NOT applied.
    • Verify by looking in the ...\bin\admin.config file. PQ47370 is not applied if there is no reference to a PQ47370.jar file. (PQ47370 contains an updated sample certificate.)
  2. The DummyKeyring sample certificate is being used (rather than using your own secure keyring).
    • Verify by looking in the ...\properties\sas.server.props file. This IBM-provided sample certificate is not being used if there's no reference to the DummyKeyring.
RESOLUTION: Create your own dummy keyring, as explained in the WebSphere InfoCenter in Section 5.5.6.1.5: "Example: Generating and Using Test Certificates."
Other temporary resolutions are possible by installing IBM's updated sample keyring (which has an expiration date of January 19, 2004). For more information on IBM WebSphere Application Server support, please visit: http://www.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/support.html
NOTE: The sample Dummy Keyring is provided in all WebSphere Application Server releases as a convenience only, for setting up SSL communications on an initial, temporary basis. As documented, use of this sample keyring could compromise security and is not recommended for other than test, development, or internal usage.
IBM encourages customers running WebSphere Application Server for OS/2 Warp to participate in online forums to exchange information on this and other technical support issues. Please feel free to report your experiences with this information to other users in the appropriate newsgroups.

Original englische Nachricht:
IBM offers a very special product for supporting high-capacity web servers called the IBM 4758 Cryptographic Coprocessor. This PCI adapter works with a variety of operating systems, including eComStation and OS/2 Warp. The IBM Common Cryptographic Architecture (CCA) is supported on these operating systems, providing a wide variety of encryption-related programming services.
Using this adapter, you can dramatically increase the throughput of SSL-based secure transactions for banking, e-commerce, and other tasks. Support software is available to access the cryptographic services on this adapter (and offload encryption calculations from the main processor). For example, it would be interesting to add support for this coprocessor to Apache running on eComStation or OS/2 Warp.
For more information, please visit:Sample source code can be found here:Here's a quick summary of the services provided by the IBM Common Cryptographic Architecture (CCA):
  • DES (with Model 002/023 triple-DES data confidentiality)
  • DES message authentication and RSA digital signatures
  • SHA-1, MD5, and with Model 002/023 RIPEMD160, and MDC-2 and MDC-4 hashing DES and RSA key management, RSA keys to 2048 bit-length
  • SET Secure Electronic Transaction services
  • Key diversification for smart card applications
  • Finance-industry PIN processing and related services
  • Custom extensions using the UDX toolkit

Warpstock Europa 2001 in Belgien! (von Luc Van Bogaert)
Die Warpstock Europa 2001 findet vom 2.-4. November in Belgien statt. Weitere Infos folgen oder sind auf der Homepage abrufbar...
The Warpstock Europe Event Team is pleased to announce that Europe's annual OS/2 and eComStation conference is coming back for the third time, this time crossing the border to Belgium. Warpstock Europe 2001 will be held at the 'KH Limburg' College in Diepenbeek, Belgium on November 2-4, 2001.
OS/2 and eComStation users from all over Europe -- or anywhere else for that matter, are invited to come to Belgium this year to attend Warpstock Europe 2001. Even though the organization of the event is still in it's early stages, the Event Team already has many ideas on what to offer during this three day OS/2-fest. Plan on coming if you want to attend high-quality lectures about a variety of OS/2 and eComStation related subjects. You'll talk to software developers, meet the people behind Netlabs and Odin, discover the new and exciting eComStation, learn about new products, buy them or try them out at the Exhibit Hall, and finally expect to have a smashing time at the Warpstock Europe Social Night Event. "The third edition of Warpstock Europe is an important milestone in the event's short history, and everything will be in place to make it a big success", says John Bijnens, the Event Team's coordinator.
Located in the heart of Western Europe, Belgium is at a convenient traveling distance for people coming from Holland, Germany and France. Attendees flying in from other countries will arrive at Brussels International Airport, which is only 80 km away from where the event will be held. To accommodate attendees from outside of Europe, the Event Team is planning special arrangements for transportation from the airport to the event site.
Diepenbeek, Belgium and neighboring city Hasselt are perfectly suited to host the Warpstock Europe 2001 Conference. Attendees will feel comfortable and at ease in Hasselt, which is a very safe and exceptionally clean mid-sized city with excellent shopping facilities, and is conveniently located only a one hour driving away from major Belgian cities, including Brussels, Antwerp and Leuven.
Place for all the action at Warpstock Europe 2001 will be the 'KH Limburg' College. Members of the Event Team have already concluded a first inspection of the site with nothing but positive results. "This site has everything this conference needs to succeed", says Technical Coordinator Johan Driesmans, and "we would like to thank the College Board of Directors for their support and for making this site available to us." Large conference rooms will be available for presentation sessions and hands-on workshops. The spacious exhibition hall provides enough room for Warpstock Europe vendors, and it can be closed off before and after event hours. There will be an "Internet cafe" offering free Internet access to attendees, a restaurant, a separate press room, guarded parking space for hundreds of cars, etc.
Behind the organization of Warpstock Europe 2001 is an international group of OS/2-users. "It's good to see that so many people are still out there, willing to fight for an event like this", says OS2.org web master Andreas Linde. And Exhibitor Coordinator Luc Van Bogaert says : "No way we could make a successful event without the help and support from our friends at Team OS/2 Deutschland e.V.; they're the ones who've made the first two editions become reality and we're fortunate to have them around, helping out with this year's edition".
For all questions about Warpstock Europe 2001, contact the Event Team Coordinator John Bijnens at info.warpstock2001@os2ug.be. Other team members are Frans Morre, Andreas Linde, Johan Driesmans, Luc Van Bogaert, Luc Coenegracht, John Roosen, Alain Rykaert, Serge Sterck, Marcel Van Baelen, Alex Wyckmans, Christian Langanke, Bart Van Leeuwen and numerous others willing to help out during the event. TCP/IP für DOS Interface (von Martin Kiewitz)
Programmierer aufgepasst!
I never found any documentation about the interface used by IBM TCP/IP for DOS (virtual exists under OS/2 MDOS). Last week I finally discovered the basics, then more. Today I can say that I can do about 95% with the interface directly via assembly. Not using the Developer Toolkit. This has the advantage of programming the interface under assembly or other languages than MS C. If anyone is interested or wants to write some documentation for the public, please contact me. I will explain and help you with it. A shim to make Arachne/DOS working under OS/2 would be possible, too. (!) But currently I dont have time. My current TCP/IP interface driver uses just 2k (!).
