PL/I beta for OS/2 version 0.9.2 released July 13, 2011 (von http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Iron Spring PL/I version 0.9.2 has been released. The primary enhancement in this version is multitasking, including the TASK, EVENT, and PRIORITY options of the CALL statement, TASK and EVENT variables, and the COMPLETION and STATUS builtin functions and pseudovariables.

On Linux multitasking requires a 2.6.x kernel.

Non user-visible enhancements include consolidation of the library source for
Linux and OS/2. The distributed versions of the compiler include all components
for both systems. The assembler code for the OS/2 version has been converted to
use the open-source "JWAsm" assembler rather than ALP [not without a lot of grief].

Any problems or questions contact http://class='mailtolink'bugs@iron-spring.com. Thanks to those who submitted a number of bug reports for previous releases. Any bugfixes not included in this release will be addressed in the next version.

Updated Firefox v4.0.2pre/Seamonkey v2.1/Thunderbird v3.4a1pre with Native Printing (von http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Revised versions of Firefox, Seamonkey, and Thunderbird offering native
printing support have been released.

* Firefox v4.0.2pre:
http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/mozilla/firefox-20110721.zip /> http://class='extlink'http://e-vertise.com/warpzilla/firefox-20110721.zip /> * Seamonkey v2.1:

>* Thunderbird v3.4a1pre
http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/mozilla/thunderbird-20110721.zip /> http://class='extlink'http://e-vertise.com/warpzilla/thunderbird-20110721.zip

General />-------
These are the final betas of a project sponsored by Mensys to provide
full-featured native printing support in the Mozilla apps. They offer
better print quality and access to all printer features while using
less memory. Mozilla’s built-in PDF and Postscript features remain
available for use.

New / Changed
-------------
* Printing from mail and news windows now works as expected - you no
longer have to open Print Preview to print.

* The built-in Postscript support is now able to print in Landscape
mode; it also uses the selected driver’s DPI setting when needed.

* The outdated Readme.txt file has been replaced by an up-to-date and
detailed ReadMe.OS2 that applies to all 3 Mozilla apps. It offers
instructions on how to use the new printing features and adds a
brief Troubleshooting guide.

* A bug which prevented some menu items from being highlighted when
using the keyboard has been fixed.

Notes
-----
* If you’ve been printing using the built-in Postscript generator but
would like to return to using your native PS driver, don’t forget to
change "print.os2.postscript.use_builtin" from "true" to "false".
See ReadMe.OS2 for details.

* Postscript output from the native PS driver may not be suitable for
conversion to PDF. Instead, have the app generate the PDF itself,
or use the built-in PS feature. See ReadMe.OS2 for details.

Support
-------
Community support for these betas and all Mozilla apps is available
through the newsgroups ’mozilla.dev.ports.os2’ or ’comp.os.os2.apps’.
Messages posted to other forums may not be seen by the developers.

0.6.21668 (2011-07-10)
----------------------

Dmitriy Kuminov:

- kernel32: SEH: Disabled unwinding Win32 exception handlers in response to
the OS/2 unwind procedure to prevent endless recursive crashes inside
OS2RtlUnwind() happening due to stack corruption under SMP kernel when too
many threads are being unwound at once (seen as a lot of c0010001 and
c0010002 exceptions in POPUPLOG.OS2 after application termination).
- kernel32: Fixed a regression in 0.6.21659 that caused crashes in DOSCALL1
when writing to memory mapped files. The wrong code path would incorrectly
invalidate memory pages on each write. This affected all OpenJDK apps.

FireFox v4.0.2pre and SeaMonkey v2.1with Native Printing Support (von http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Full-featured native printing support in Firefox and Seamonkey is now
available for testing. You can get these betas from:

* Firefox v4.0.2pre:
http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/mozilla/firefox-20110702.zip /> or
http://class='extlink'http://e-vertise.com/warpzilla/firefox-20110702.zip /> * Seamonkey v2.1:
http://class='extlink'ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/mozilla/seamonkey-20110703.zip /> or
http://class='extlink'http://e-vertise.com/warpzilla/seamonkey-20110703.zip

New />---
All features offered by your printer driver (e.g. duplexing) should
be fully functional. In addition, your printer’s output resolution
is no longer limited to conserve memory. In most cases, you should
be able to print at higher resolutions while using less memory than
previously. Please see ’Notes’ below for more info.

Fixed
-----
Both apps will now run on systems where dive.dll is not present.
If it is available, it will be loaded to provide improved video
performance for users of SNAP and GenGradd.

Notes
-----
General: This is the second phase of a project sponsored by Mensys
to provide printing support in the Mozilla apps. Unlike Phase I
where the app created the printed output dot-by-dot, this version
uses native graphics commands that are interpreted by your printer’s
driver to create the final output.

Postscript: If you’ve been using the built-in Postscript generator
and would like to switch to OS/2’s native PS printer driver, type
"about:config" in the URL bar and press ’Enter’. Doubleclick on
the entry for "print.os2.postscript.use_builtin" to change it from
’true’ to ’false’. If this entry is missing, the app will default
to the native driver.

Postscript to PDF: This version should produce high quality output
when directed to a printer. However, its output may not be suitable
for conversion to PDF because all text is handled as graphics rather
than characters that can be selected. Instead, you can either use
the app’s built-in PDF capabilities (select "Print to File", then
give the filename a ’pdf’ extension) or you can print to file using
the app’s Postscript generator (select a non-Postscript printer
driver, click "Print to File", then give the file a ’ps’ extension).

Bug(?): If nothing prints the very first time you try, close the
app, reopen it, then retry. It should not fail again.

Support
-------
Community support for these betas and all Mozilla apps is available
through the newsgroups ’mozilla.dev.ports.os2’ or ’comp.os.os2.apps’.
Messages posted to other forums may not be seen by the developers.
