| GenMAC-Sponsoring - now starting! (von Thorolf) |
| Hi all,
after I got obligatory commitments about more than 1000 EUR for the donation of a ThinkPad T60 to the GenMAC-developer Willibald, I\'m very optimistic to get the rest of the needed amount quite soon too! So I begin to collect the money from everybody who wrote me an e-mail now, I will inform you about the actual status on http://www.os2.org ! For people within the EU the easiest way to donate is a bank transfer, for detailed informations I send an e-mail, for all others I\'m in contact with Mensys how we can manage the payment over the existing \"netlabs.org\"-sponsoring or may be an other way, I\'ll inform you as soon I have more informations! If you have an other idea to send me the money to Germany without big losses just write me an e-mail to genmac AT godawa DOT de! | Hallo an alle,
nachdem die verbindlichen Zusagen ueber eine Spende fuer einen ThinkPad T60 plus Port Replicator fuer den GenMAC-Entwickler Willibald insgesamt 1000 EUR deutlich ueberschritten haben bin ich sehr optimistisch das der fehlende Betrag auch noch zusammenkommen wird :-) Ich fange jetzt also an das Geld einzusammeln, über den aktuellen Stand der Dinge werde ich hier informieren! Anwender innerhalb der EU können mir das Geld am einfachsten überweisen, nähere Infos dazu gibt es per E-Mail, für alle anderen stehe ich mit Mensys in Kontakt zu welchen Konditionen die Spenden auch über das dort vorhandene Netlabs.org-Sponsoring eingesammelt werden können und gebe das dann ebenfalls hier bekannt! | Hallo,
Aktuell haben wir ein grosses Problem mit neuer Hardware wie z.B. dem ThinkPad T60, welches die Netzwerkadapter nun mit MiniPCI/PCI-Express (MiniPCIe/PCIe) anbindet! GenMAC unterstützt bislang keine der neuen MiniPCIe-Adapter weil Willibald, der Entwickler von GenMAC, keine Möglichkeit hat die Treiber selbst zu debuggen. Er hat zwar zwei Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 MiniPCIe sowie einen Adapter für seinen PC von PCIe zu MiniPCIe angeschafft, leider funktioniert das nicht weil sich die Karten nicht so verhalten wie in einem Laptop mit MiniPCIe :-( Meine Idee ist also ihm einen Laptop mit MiniPCI/PCI-Express plus einen Port-Replicator mit seriellem Anschluss zu sponsorn damit er in Zukunft weiterhin Treiber für aktuelle Ethernet- und WLAN-Karten auf Basis von MiniPCIe entwickeln und debuggen kann! Weil sie bislang immer noch zu den besten zählen und viele OS/2 / eCS-Anwender sie einsetzen würde ich einen ThinkPad T60 mit ThinkPad Essential Port Replicator vorschlagen. Das kleinste Modell das eine entsprechende Ausstattung mitbringt kostet in Deutschland als Neugerät inkl. Port Replicator ca. 1300 - 1400EUR mit 3 Jahren IBM-Garantie. Alternativ könnte jemand aus Deutschland Willibald ein ThinkPad T60 mit Port Replicator für einige Wochen ausleihen damit er zumindest die 8086x109A und 8086x4222/4227 fixen kann, allerdings bringt uns das für spätere Entwicklungen auch nicht weiter da dann wieder Hardware zum Testen fehlt. Wer ist also bereit Geld für ein solches System zu spenden? Schreibt mir bitte eine E-Mail an \"genmac Ich werde dann alles koordinieren, wenn sich der zugesagte Spenden-Betrag dem benötigten annähert werde ich das Geld einsammeln, das preiswerteste Modell mit dem vernünftig entwickelt werden kann anschaffen und es Willibald zukommen lassen. Sollte mehr gespendet werden als wir benötigen, werde ich den Rest Netlabs.org für andere Projekte spenden! Z.Z. weis ich noch nicht wie man Geld ausserhalb der EU am besten einsammelt, Vorschläge dazu sind sehr willkommen! In Deutschland und der EU ist der einfachste und billigste Weg eine Überweisung, meine Tante lebt in USA, ev. gibt es über sie auch eine günstige Möglichkeit das Geld einzusammeln und nach Deutschland zu transferieren. Alternativ käme vielleicht auch ein Netlabs.org-Sponsoring speziell für dieses Projekt über Mensys in Betracht ...
