This text-based windowing system implements a command-line with a history buffer so previous commands can be recalled and edited easily.

Also, the output goes to a large scrollable window so you can page back and forth.

For those of you that don't know DFSee yet, DFSee is an FDISK, display, analysis and recovery tool for disks and filesystems.

Because of the targeted use for DFSee it is a command-line and text-only utility (no GUI). At the moment an OS/2, Win-NT and DOS (+ Win-95) version exist.

Version 2.99 also has some smaller functional updates and fixes several minor bugs.

I would very much like to hear some experiences you have with DFSee and the new user-interface, either positive or negative.

For anyone who wishes to try the new Emacs, there are a few issues with the current release which may be of interest:

1. You must invoke it with "emacs -pm" because of some obscure build problem that causes it to fail as a text-mode app. (I've fixed this but want to fix a couple more problems before I create another release.)
2. Minimizing the frame by clicking on the minimize button kills emacs.
3. M-x revert-buffer fails (found & fixed in next release)
4. Access to the OS/2 clipboard is not functioning.
5. I've accidentally included some configuration files (site-start.el) from my installation which may not be appropriate for the rest of you.

Most major programs at the Warped Code Cellar have been updated recently and newly added are a collection of ducuments dealing with home automation devices and network setup for HOUSE/2, the home automation program for OS/2.

HOUSE/2 is an OS/2 application designed to program and control the inexpensive X-10 ActiveHome computer interface. This program is designed to interactively control the X-10 modules from your desktop, or you can pre-program the controller and run timed events completely stand-alone.

UPS Monitor for OS/2 v1.1

UPS Monitor supports most APC brand Uninterruptible Power Sources and safely shuts down your operating system during power failures.

For OS/2 users wondering how to setup their home peer-to-peer network to use HOUSE/2 or any other application that uses a serial port, you can read an illustrated article about how to redirect a serial port in Warp 4.0.

TimeKeeper/2 is a program that retrieves Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) from a time server using time protocol RFC868 and compares the results to your system time and optionally updates your system time if necessary.

TimeKeeper/2 can even be configured to adjust for Daylight Saving Time if you provide your time zone information in the program settings.

TimeKeeper/2 has a set of predefined NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) servers which are synchronized with an atomic clock. When TimeKeeper/2 is installed, a server is automatically selected for you and may be changed at any time if you wish to use a different predefined server. If you have a preferred time server that is not in the preconfigured list there is an option to add servers.

TimeKeeper/2 is ideal for keeping your system time and date as accurate as possible and makes a nice addition to your Startup folder.

A substantial update has been made to the open-source PGPro Scripts by Don Eitner. The original script (3DShadow) has undergone a major rewrite and has been joined by a completely new script (GreetingCard) which makes creating simple foldable greeting cards under OS/2 easy! The package has been released as PGPro Scripts v2.0. There are no new features or scripts currently planned, so v2.0 ought to stay up for a while. :)

ServerConfig/2 is a PM configuration util for Apache webserver, the InetPowerServer/2 and the IBM TCP/IP Firewall!

It has an easy to use PM interface and allows you to do things by simple mouse clicks.

It also allows you to remote configure any OS/2 and unix/linux Apache. It includes a daemon that can be compiled under any gcc and thus allows ServerConfig/2 to receive and save configurations remotely, all from OS/2 :)

Full support for the InetPowerServer, for all the services, with full GUI support for user management.

Full support for the TCP/IP Firewall, GUI interface for all the rules, log file, error log and Tunneling (VPN) support!

btw, in case you are wondering where i found the firewall, its included in tcpip 4.1/4.2/4.21.

1. For dial-up users, the new approach to outgoing mail means longer delays before retries. (The old version did an extra retry on every program start, but the new version waits until the scheduled time for a retry.) If you're running Weasel on a machine with a dial-up connection, and you're using it for outbound mail, then I'd suggest that you go back to version 0.82 for now. I'll have a solution for this problem soon, but it's not yet ready.

2. The wildcard matching didn't work when checking hostnames. (e.g. when checking the "trusted hosts" lists to see whether relay mail should be allowed.) I have fixed this problem in version 0.86.

If you're affected by problem #2 above then I suggest you get the new version. Otherwise don't bother, because there's yet another version due out within the next few weeks (if all goes to plan).

If you do get 0.86, you'll notice a couple of new features in PMSetup. (Filters for incoming mail, and a new criterion for accepting relay mail.) These are not yet documented or tested - I wasn't planning a new release this soon - so they're not officially supported, but feel free to experiment with them if you wish.

World Clock is a configurable clock with Daylight Savings Time, Stopwatch, Alarm and Program launcher for 1 and 9 cities from 360+ cities in the provided City list.

I have started development of a simple program to configure the built-in firewall in TCP/IP 4.1 and above for OS/2.

It has been known for some time that IBM included some firewall functionality in their newer TCP/IP stacks, but they have never documented it. Thus, setting it up and configuring it has been quite difficult.

This program makes the whole process a lot easier, by providing a graphical user interface for managing the firewall rules, and the firewall itself.

Please consider this program a beta, and report back to me.
Comments, suggestions, bug reports and success reports are all welcome. :)

Seems that V1.25 and V1.26 are affected with the command line parser roblem, where it would not correctly take in the ThermoAlarm values... if you *NEED* ThermoAlarm, then please revert to V1.20.

I'll be cutting out the entire command line processing code and replace it with a menu driven configuration utility, and a text mode configuration file that you can easily edit youself. But that will have to wait until my trip to Taiwan is over, and that will be a few weeks...

This version of IPS is a major upgrade as it is the first one supporting SMTP send and therefore now can work as a fully functional mail server.

IPS is a multiprotocol server application allowing you to create your own ftp and mail server using your OS/2 or Windows NT machine.

Please note that the version running on ftp.iq.to has been running without problems or reboots since v0.81b2 was released.

DragText v3.1 is the new release of a distinctly different Desktop enhancement for OS/2 Warp. Present almost everywhere yet invisible until needed, DragText lets you do what others can't: handle text as an object using drag & drop, access WPS objects directly from any program, and more. And, DragText is known for its stability.

v3.1 adds pickup & drop for text to DragText's core features and offers refinements to almost all its components. New users can put DragText to the test during their six week free trial, while registered users are welcome to upgrade free of charge.

Here's a summary of DragText v3.1's new features and enhancements:

• Pickup and Drop - Any window that lets you drag text now lets you pick it up too. DragText makes a copy of the text, so you can edit or close the source window without affecting your "lazy drag".

After some examination, it appears that the requester now available form Software Choice is indeed the 2.12 requester with PT2 (the second patch kit) included.

If you are already using the 2.12 requester, you may download OS2PT2.EXE.

In addition, there is an error in the README for this release which states that a prerequisite for installation is OS/2 Warp Server 3.0; only OS/2 Warp 3.0 or above is required.

I hope this saves some people some time and trouble!
