Find an eCS neighbour with your language (von http://news.warpevents.eu/) |
Current version of eComStation 2.1 is available on English and German languages. What is the demand on other NLV versions?
Do you need more versions of eComStation? Dutch (under construction), Japanese, Danish, French, Italian, Swedish, Spanish, Finnish, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese?
Here is a basic roadmap:
Step 1: Find other user in your country. Publish information about you: post a message to the comments of this message. (don’t publish e-mail but add reference to your homepage)
Step 2: Translate applications based on LANGE library -- http://ecomstation.ru/projects/lange/ (you need FileCommander to enter .nls file = .zip file, edit simple lines of text, send the results to the developers)
Step 3: What other system component or utility are you interested to translate? -> URL: http://news.warpevents.eu/de/start/neuigkeiten_archiv/aktuelles_im_detail/archive/2011/june/article/find_an_ecs_neighbour_with_your_language.html -> Kommentare: 0 [ Version zum Drucken ] [ Per eMail versenden ] |

PCI Dock - new utility for eComStation (von http://news.warpevents.eu/) |
If eComStation PC doesn’t work properly (USB troubles / network is slow / can’t run with 2 CPUs / applications crash) then make some efforts, analyze the problems and setup the system.
Usually the problems occur because of IRQ conflicts. Screenshot: PCI Dock makes advice how to resolve IRQ conflicts http://ecomstation.ru/pic/news/201106/pcidock-20110619b.png

USB 1.1 Extended Control Driver for OS/2 (von http://news.warpevents.eu/) |
Wim Brul has released his USB 1.1 Extended Control Driver for OS/2 for free use. From the website: "This driver enables you to directly control usb devices. It provides an application programming interface that conforms to the standard DosRead and DosWrite functions and as such may be easily used from rexx procedures using the charin and charout functions. It has been designed to ease the development and test of simple usb devices that do not belong to any usb device class and which exercise standard/vendor control transfers and data (bulk/interrupt) transfers. Besides the application programming interface supports isochronous transfers to 1 specific endpoint through DosDevIOCtl functions that are however not available to rexx procedures. There is a 1 to 1 relationship between an instance of this device driver and a particular usb device." The website has complete installation and usage documentation and provides samples and source code. Bingo! 3000 bug-reports in eCS bug-tracker (von http://news.warpevents.eu/) |
Major part of bug-reports are caught (declared) by the developers themselves. The users should make extra efforts to support the developers.
Do you have a bug-report related to eComStation operating system? (http://ecomstation.com -> Log In -> bug-tracker). The main bug-tracker of the OS contains part of all bug-reports and usually contains the reports related to installation, base drivers, ..
Here is the list of other large bug-trackers: http://ecomstation.ru/projects/support/ (ACPI - 500 tickets, Qt4 - 220, Samba - 170, etc)
Basic minds how to prepare bug-report, start from: * Step 1: Select keywords related to your problem (Error number, description of the problem in 5 words, ..)
* Step 2: Search for duplicate of your report in the bug-tracker
* Step 3: Create, fill the bug-report, attach logs
* Step 4: Check the status of bug-report in 3 days, in 7 days.
* Step 5: If the developer refused the report, repeat it in a week or forward to other developer. -> URL: http://news.warpevents.eu/de/start/neuigkeiten_archiv/aktuelles_im_detail/archive/2011/june/article/bingo_3000_bug_reports_in_ecs_bug_tracker.html -> Kommentare: 0 [ Version zum Drucken ] [ Per eMail versenden ] |

SearchPlus 2.0 Review is up at blueNexus (von http://news.warpevents.eu/) |
SearchPlus 2.0 Review is up at blueNexus: As peoples hard drives get larger, it becomes more of a hassle to find things, and after time you just forget where those pictures are that you need to delete before the wife finds them (ya, you know the ones). While eComStation does have a search program called PMSEEK 2.0, it is very long in the tooth and limited in what it can do. SearchPlus locates files and or directories quickly by searching multiple locations simultaneously by using parallel processing thus avoiding time consuming sequential searches. SearchPlus is a native eComStation program that brings the eCS search function, if not to the future, to the present in terms of it’s power. This review puts SearchPlus and PMSEEK head to head, see if you should download SearchPlus or keep with what comes with eCS. http://http://www.bluenexus.net/Reviews/SearchPlus/SearchPlus-review-06-01-11.html Links:
