Scribus port updated to v1.3.9 (von http://news.warpevents.eu/)

Paul Smedley has updated Scribus to v1.3.9 http://class='moz-txt-link-freetext'; http://os2ports.smedley.info/

http://class='moz-txt-link-freetext'; http://os2ports.smedley.info/index.php?page=scribus

"Scribus is an Open Source program that brings award-winning professional page layout to Linux/UNIX, Mac OS X, OS/2 Warp 4/eComStation and Windows desktops with a combination of "press-ready" output and new approaches to page layout. Underneath the modern and user friendly interface, Scribus supports professional publishing features, such as CMYK color, separations, Spot Colors, ICC color management and versatile PDF creation."

Please let Paul know if you find this software useful.  He needs user
feedback to continue work on these projects.  He maintains a bug tracker
for many projects at http://class='moz-txt-link-freetext'; http://mantis.smedley.info ; It just requires a simple
registration.

If you’d like to help support continued development of this project (and
many others) for OS/2 & eComStation, please consider making a donation
either via Paypal using the  link on Paul’s website, or using the Mensys
Online Store http://class='moz-txt-link-freetext'; http://www.mensys.net/os2ports/

Week of laser printers (von http://news.warpevents.eu/)

The week is dedicated to collection of info about compatible/non-compatible laser printers (cheap).

Our database contains 281 records only -- http://ecomstation.ru/hardware.php

Major part of the models are not manufactured anymore.

Post new reports using the web-form -- http://ecomstation.ru/hardware.php

Attention! The developers of solutions are interested to know the list of unsupported devices.

What is the driver? Is it Postscript printer?

OpenJDK 6 Alpha for OS/2 and eCS Version 1.6.0 Build 19 Beta 2 (2011-01-12) (von http://news.warpevents.eu/)

OpenJDK 6 Alpha for OS/2 and eCS Version 1.6.0 Build 19 Beta 2 (2011-01-12) has been released on the Netlabs FTP server.  Note: This is a beta build intended for testing purposes.

Java for OS/2 and eComStation website: http://svn.netlabs.org/java/wiki

REQUIREMENTS />In order to use this version of OpenJDK, you will need the following:

  - A OS/2 Warp 4 Fixpack 16+, OS/2 Warp 4.5 or eComStation operating system.
  - Odin32 library version 0.6.21558 (2011-01-12) or above:

ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/odin/odin32bin-20110112-release.wpi

Please read the readme.os2 carefully.  One listed problem is that OpenJDK will not work correctly under the OS/2 SMP kernel because of a current Odin32 issue.

eCo Market: Week of (game) emulators (von http://news.warpevents.eu/)

eCo Market (http://ecomstation.ru/ecomarket) is an initiative of eCo Software: "The users need tools, they want to see the list of available applications not tales about powerful operating systems. That’s why we are working on the GUI catalogue aimed to deliver software to users fast."

Total quantity of packages: 100

Let’s collect emulators and virtual machines in the catalogue.

Currently we have 2 programs only: Commodore64 emulator and VirtualBox 1.6.1 (packed to warpin).

Message for developers: if you updat warpin-package of your program then follow the recommendation: Version - it’s a datestamp: YYYY\MM\DD, Example: PACKAGEID="eCo Software\Runtime\Base\2008\03\02" (so we can automate control of application packages).

How to support the project? http://ecomstation.ru/projects/ecomarket/

P.S. Yes, we are working on new GUI.
