Explained Petrilli: "MQSeries basically takes care of the
communication between our distributed PCs and initiates the process
for the conversation with the credit card providers. Each cashier can
start this process from the desktop and can kick it out over the
local network to an IBM PC running MQSeries for OS/2 that initiates
the connectivity to the credit card provider."
Petrilli cited the key business advantages in implementing the
solution: "Any company dealing with credit cards will tell you
that speed, stability and reliability are imperative. With MQSeries,
we have made significant improvements in each of these areas. The new
system is definitely faster - credit card processing went from around
45 seconds to between 8 and 12 seconds per request. Basically,
Technology Investments took a process and cut the time by two-thirds,
so the customers can get serviced a lot quicker. This gives us a
definite competitive advantage, allowing us to process more work
faster." So far, so good.
